This place has declined year by year. Yes, 10 years ago they might have been almost worthy of their prices but now, May 5 2014, not at all. I got a jumbo crabcake $11.95 and a jumbo stuffed shrimp $11.40....neither of them contained 10% of real crab meat. They mainly contained some type of fish (not even the white monk fish that other seafood restaurants use to beef up the crabcakes)...none of the meet inside the food was white....crab meat (except claw) is white. Also, all of it was chopped up...crab meat is not choppy (except claw). I called to complain and the crack head (dyed red hair and really rotten teeth) that waited on me said they only use lump crab...that is such an insult. Their is no manager and the owner is Dorothy Goff who stays out of the store. this place is awful, don't buy anything there EVER!!!!

I went here twice..first time I visited -I bought some food and it tastes great.. but then I went for a 2nd time and bought some crabs...as I looked at them I found HUMAN blonde hair tangled in the crab's legs... SUCH A TURN OFF!

Excellent fish cakes and friendly people. This place saved me from the bland crapola served on JHU's undergrad campus nearby, way back in the '70s. My GI system was a wreck until I found Sterlings, Polock Johnny's and Leon's Pig Pen (I've gotta have spice to live). Leon's is apparently long gone, but Sterlings hasn't changed at all, except prices have gone up a little over these many years. I don't get back too often, but was there on July 4, 2011 and if anything the fish cakes were even better than I remembered them. Everything else looked excellent, too. Seafood sub is amazing--almost more than one's senses can bear. Locals were getting some beautiful fried chicken, all served quickly and with a smile. The area does look pretty dodgy, but it's more hardcore poor working class than really dangerous. Do not fail to go there, if you have any chance to do so.
