We just had a Sodus Bay Yacht Club Spring party for 75 people at the Strath. A great banquet facility, delicious food (everybody raved about it, and the flourless chocolate torte definitely a winner!), and most importantly all staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and nice! A great place for a party.

Pull out couch mattress was incredibly uncomfortable and had an awful blanket; I got just three hours of sleep before being stuck awake the rest of the night. Had problems with air conditioning where it would just uncontrollably blast hot air; the maintenance guys would come fix it but then a few minutes later it'd break again. Was kept up by people outside partying until 12 or 1 despite being on the fourth floor.

To the hotel's credit, they did upgrade one of our rooms to a suite when another guest extended their stay, so at least that was nice. But overall I did not much enjoy my stay here.

I've never written a negative review for a restaurant or hotel however I believe that my experience should be shared so that others can be aware before they book a room here. The positives should be listed first. The hotel staff and lounge downstairs are topnotch. They are pleasant and helpful. It's in a nice location and the amenities make the stay away from home comfortable. Rooms are good sized and clean. Cookies are fabulous and the beds are comfortable. However.... make sure you ask for a room far from the restaurant. I'm an HHonors member and I was stuck in a room right above the restaurant. When I walked in it smelled of burned meat. That's fine at a BBQ but not in my hotel room. When I asked the front desk I was told it would stop smelling once the restaurant closed. I tried not to make a fuss, but when I couldn't sleep all night as the smells were overwhelming I finally called around 4am and asked to be moved. The front desk staff was much more helpful this time around and I was immediately moved four floors up and half a building down. The only other issue was a wall shared the elevator shaft. I settled for the noise over the smell as I didn't want to complain again.

I stayed here one other time for a single evening and it was uneventful. This stay was longer and not as pleasant. I would advise that if you are staying there make sure to request a room far from the restaurant and elevator. Otherwise the hotel is very pleasant.

From the staff to the property, everything was warm and welcoming. The staff was so friendly, everyone we encountered. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was full and fresh. Very delicious. The manager and desk clerks were chatty with our children, and gave them extra cookies. So nice! The entire stay was pleasant, and we can't wait to come again!
