My debit I was charged $1.02 more than what my receipt says I was supposed to be charged. Waitress rarely came to table. Only straws were only the tiny coffee stirring straws. Drinks hardly refilled. Served a 9-10 dollar burger on Styrofoam and it wasn't even great tasting for being so expensive.

Despite all of the negative reviews, I decided to give this place a chance with my lovely lady. I'm glad I did! I went on 11/10/15 around 6pm.

The wait staff was wonderful. They greeted and seated us right away. Their drinks are rather tiny compared to most restaurants in KC and I drink fast. So it was delightful that my cup was only empty once and only for a moment.

The food was great! I had pork tenderloin and sweet potato fries. Both of our plates came out timely and hot. The tenderloin was a little bit dry but otherwise wonderful, the fries were were near perfect.

All in all it was a great experience. It was slightly over priced but due to the service I feel the extra few dollars were well spent!

I have been going to this location since I was still on my mother's hip. Right off the bat, the location they have is a delight. You can sit in the streetcar in which they hail their name, you can sit in one of the many tables in the dimly-lit crooner-style restaurant, or you can sit "outside" in a patio-esque style area and watch all of the Crown Center shoppers as you eat your food. The food is great, always serviced with a pickle, tomato and lettuce, and never fails to be exactly the same every time. The wait staff is experienced, getting your drinks quickly and efficiently, the food to you the second it comes out. A lot of people complain about the Styrofoam plates, but in truth I don't even have an issue with it. You go there for the burgers and sandwiches - why on earth would you insist on something that is generally in your hands to be placed occasionally down on a porcelain plate? I love this place. Always have, always will. There is seriously no one more saddened by their approaching closing than I am.

The prices were a little high, especially since my food was served on Styrofoam. The service was rushed, we received our check before our food and our waitress seemed too rushed to bother with us. The food was just mediocre and I truly believe they get business due to the fact that the entrance looks like an old train, frankly it's what drew us in. Check the block and never again.

The greatest thing about this place is its name. That's pretty much where it ends. It's one of those places you *hope* has some remarkable menu that'll floor you to the point of forcing you to want to come back. No, that's the furthest from the truth as possible. Their burgers are small and flavourless. The fish and chips lack any flavour and usually borders the edge of wondering if it's safe to eat or not. Let's just get into the breakdown...

Environment:
Three Stars (***)

The environment brings you into "A Streetcar Named Desire". It's one of the first things you'll see when you walk down to the "ground level" of Crown Center. It has an appeal that makes you want to give it a try. When you walk in, it does genuinely feel like you've walked into an oversized street car. The floors are a bit rough (squeaks and moans, bends a little) and if you're over 5'11 - you'll likely hit your head at least once.

Food:
One Star (*)

The food here is beyond mediocre. Burgers are so small and flavourless that you'll think that you're at some backyard variation of White Castle. The patties on these burgers are about 2.5 inches in diameter. There's usually more sauce/cheese/salad (tomato/lettuce/onion) than there is burger. To top it off, there's more bread than any of the aforementioned. Their "Big George" (a double hamburger) is about the same size as a *regular* hamburger. This costs $7.55. If you want cheese, that'll be $8.25. Their grilled chicken sandwich that a colleague had ordered ended up having some pink in middle (which he avoided) and he stated that it was most likely a frozen chicken breast thrown into the microwave for a few minutes. Whether or not this is the case, I am not entirely sure. If the rest of their food is any indication, I probably wouldn't be surprised at this point.

Customer Service:
Two Stars (***)

Despite the tacky environment and the atrocious food, the employees are fairly nice. They are accommodating and try to be as sincere as possible. One waiter had even given me an "extra" burger because she knew it was ridiculous that the burgers were so small for the price they're being sold at. At the risk of her job, she tried to give the company a better name. That takes some type of guts, or at least personal involvement.

Price:
One Star (*)

Okay, let's start with the burgers: do not get the burgers. I've even had a "steak sandwich" from "A Streetcar Named Desire" just to hope for the best. At the time, it was $10.25 for the sandwich and french fries. You could get something similar at any other fast food joint for $2.50 ($1 for sandwich, $1.50 for fries). The prices are way over the top and it's certainly due to the price of rent in an "upscale" location like Crown Center. So this is a "chicken/egg" scenario. Is the food so terrible because they're trying to make ends meet? Or are they having issues staying in business because of their terrible food? It's debatable, but there's not one thing on the menu that isn't overpriced.

Overall:
Two Stars (**)

Amongst it all, it was that sole waitress that tried her hardest to make sure I left feeling content that has bumped this up from a one star to a two star. As there's the incredibly likely chance that she was terminated for trying to make sure customers were happy, the overall should be a single star. Needless to say, there's another place within Crown Center that you can get a delicious burger for a decent price... but it's definitely not "A Streetcar Named Desire".
