Hello, I'm a construction/remodelling/restoration worker in a long time family business that expands across the country into several states.
So I've not been to this particular subway in about 12 months and I come in today around past 8:30 am this morning.
I walk in to use the restroom, wash my hands and sit down preparing for my ride to my work site with a few other relatives/employees in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. I was going to take a seat and check the schedule for the city bus which takes me directly to my destination from Bartlett, Tennessee utilizing Google Map for an accurate timing, but before ANYTHING to my surprise all I hear being shouted from across the room at me is "YOU CAN'T SIT DOWN IN HERE, YOU GOT TO BUY SOMETHING OR LEAVE" and I realize an short, angry disgruntled looking african american female named "tonya" is frowned up giving me the
'glare of death' as I look at her in disbelief of her out of no where extreme rudeness. So I walk over to the counter to interact with her on her people-skills when it comes to communicating in decency and professional order instead of the uncivil, stereotypically beastly, embarrassing ghetto trashy way that she confronted me with again out of nowhere, which is not good professionally for Subway or generally any restaurants public image.
Her response became extremely belligerent, raising her voice shouting louder, getting defensive by justifying that she told this to me a year ago (in which I don't recall due to all the travelling and dealings with many of different people on a consistent basis) and that I don't have any excuses.
So my reply back was one, how do you know that I wasn't going to purchase anything, two, I don't even recognize you because I haven't been to this state in about a year's span (we do winter work in tenneessee, mississippi & arkansas) so I apologize, reenlighten me of the rules simply in a respectful manner instead of offending a customer/possible customer since you could've simply walked over to the end of the counter and appropriately gained my attention speaking in a nice quiet, respectful tone that she spo biasedly to the others in, which should've been "excuse me sir, it's been a few months, but I told you some time ago that no one can loiter and sit down in the restaurant prior to purchasing food" and my simple response would've been a smile followed up with
"no problem at all" and the situation would've been accessed and resolved instantly -- but NO, tonya wanted to continue debating upon her irrelevant premise in which I been here a year ago, so I should KNOW this by now all while yelling at me even another patron came into the store. She kept on escaping the central argument of her UNPROFESSIONALISM and severely EMBARRASSINGLY insultful behavior which I partially caught on camera. She yelled I've should've known better even after 12 months, that I shouldn't even come into subway and that she doesnt have to speak to me professionally.
