Sugar Cafe, San Francisco, California Restaurant Details

Food:

Very chill environment, excellent example of what a cafe should be.. great place to come for some good night time conversation

Food:

Strong drinks, good food portions (really nice jalepeno-bacon deviled eggs for just $6). Good service (though you'll have to go to the bar to order at night). Good deserts, again with great portions and reasonable pricing. No harassment if you're working, plugged in, using outlets (several were doing so even after midnight). Keep in mind the kitchen closes at midnight even on weekends.

Food:

Nice chicken wraps, free wifi (from their neighbours at Hackbright) and a peaceful ambience at the weekend.

My friend works downtown, she likes the place. So when this deal was on Living Social, I decided to get it and try it out myself. But it really wasn't my group's taste. We went on a Sunday night, it wasn't much of a cafe but it also was trying too hard to be a club. The music that was playing was definitely not lounge music. There wasn't a waitress on duty so we had to order at bar and I wouldn't be surprised if the desserts weren't made in house. They weren't spectacular, if I didn't have this deal, I would have felt a bit jipped at $8 a dessert. Especially for a place called Sugar Cafe. Maybe there's a bit more care during the day time. My friend's "deconstructed" brownie sundae, was not deconstructed and the brownie was refrigerated and stale. The girl working the bar looked like she wasn't happy there and looked impatient while we were looking at the menu, but that may just be her regular expression. Either way, we're not going back any time soon unless we hear they really do shape up.

Food:

I love Sugar Cafe. Great place to work/study during the day (heard it's quite a nice bar at night too). It's has a nice, fresh atmosphere. The food is very good as well (loved their roasted veggie sandwich), and it's very reasonably priced. It gets a bit loud though as it can get crowded, but it's not overwhelming. I will be going back soon!
