Sunflower Restaurant, Boulder, Colorado Restaurant Details

very fresh Ingredient, good taste of course!! It's on Pear st. atmosphere can't go wrong!!

I was surprised to get an email the other day telling me Sunflower was closing. Not quite believing, I went by the restaurant last night to see (hoping I could squeak in one more happy hour?). Lights were off, no one home, sign on the door saying the restaurant was now closed and thanks for the business. Too bad - I did like their food.

While in Boulder on a long leisure weekend, my friend and I ate at Sunflower. We were both blown away by the food! My pasta du jour, ravioli, and her risotto were fresh and incredibly tasty. The bartender rocked my world with a schezwan (I know I spelled that wrong!) martini with pear puree in a sugar and crushed flower rimmed glass. However, besides for the bartender and the hostess, the rest of the staff were terrible! Our first waiter was badly in need of a shower. He turned us over to another waiter without telling us or the other waiter apparently, so we waited for about 20 minutes for a different waiter to take our order. The food was delivered in a timely manner by a third waiter, but there was no follow up to refill drinks and even after asking for bread, we never got any. A fourth waiter, who ended up being the busboy finally took my order for a beer, but never delivered it -- it showed up 20 minutes later. Finally we asked a fifth waiter to send the manager who listened to our concerns and that was it. I was hoping he might at least comp a drink or something. But he didn't. So... if you want great food, but don't care too much about the quality of the service, Sunflower is the place to eat on Pearl Street.

I've been here twice. The first time, we ordered juice drinks from the bar and half of us didn't get the drinks until after we finished our food. The last time I was there it took our server THIRTY MINUTES to put our drinks on our table and take our food order! She even took other table's orders of people that came in after us. I am a server myself and I was shocked. The food was not even that great. I strongly recommend you pick somewhere else to eat.
