The view is perfect and the guys are so friendly. There is a collection of nice traditional old photos on the walls. We had Gyro and dolma . They were perfect and the tastes of Baklava was unbelievable. I totally recommend the restaurant.

I will never come here again. I am fairly new to Tucson, and tried the Sunrise Cafe in search of some good Turkish coffee. I had it once and was served by a pleasant teenaged-appearing male who was very kind and made good coffee. I decided to give Sunrise Cafe a try once again.

I entered the establishment. It was empty. The decor is trite, everything seems sticky, and it has a diner feel - you wouldn't want to linger here. There was an older man standing at the front who appeared to be the owner. He glanced at me without speaking, and then turned back to whatever he was doing. I sat myself; there are menus on the tables, and with no sign directing you on what to do, I assumed I should just sit down. The man paid me no attention; he never greeted me, never told me what to do, anything. I picked out what I wanted and continued to be ignored.

Some other customers entered. Suddenly his demeanor completely changed. He was chatting with them, asking them about their lives, etc. He took their order and went off. I'm sitting at my table still, wondering why I was ignored. About five minutes after this, he says in a curt voice, "If you're ready to order, you can come up here." Apparently it's too difficult to walk ten feet to take a customer's order at the Sunrise Cafe. At the very least, this information should be provided at the front of the restaurant so customers don't get confused. How was I supposed to know I needed to place my order up front?

I ordered my coffee and an omelette. I was presented with the coffee (good) and the omelette (terrible). Why was it terrible? MY EGGS WERE MICROWAVED!! Yes, my "omelette" was microwaved eggs with veggies sprinkled in. My stomach turned. I paid $8 for microwaved eggs. Disgusting.

Since the rude owner had already made me pay up front instead of just taking my order, I didn't have to pay before leaving. I simply left. Unacknowledged, as I came.

Disgusting, horrifying restaurant. And I love Middle Eastern food. A piece of advice: get yours elsewhere. I don't even want to know how the gyro meat or shawarma comes out if they can't even get eggs right. I give the service a 1 for the original guy who served me.

WHERE did all these glowing reviews come from? We ordered some food to go on a Friday night based on the great online reviews. When I arrived around 6:30 PM the place was basically empty, only one couple at a table sharing a gyros. We ordered chicken swarma and a gyros plate...the swarma looked heinously processed and unappetizing, and tasted even worse. Strips of some sort of processed pressed light brown meat oddly sweetened, and a side of tasteless rice for $13.50. Bizarre tasting, bland and dry, even liberally doused with tzatziki. The gyros meat was okay but the accompanying shredded lettuce and canned olive slice salad was disappointing at best, especially for $10.95. My advice...forget about it!

Can't go wrong with this local gem. A bit pricey, but expected in this zip. A good alternative to Starb's for a coffee to go--support local businesses!
