Sushi Totoro, San Jose, California, Japanese Restaurant Details

Their signature roll was a bit sub-par for having been a signature roll. We had two fried rolls (Golden Bell, Dragon something) and they were pretty good. I have sushi places that I like much, much better than Totoro's, but if I were in Santa Cruz and craving sushi again, I would probably stop in.

Reasonably priced, pretty decent sushi, but the service is sub par.

I eat at Sushi Totoro at least a few times a week. They're quick to fill lunch take-out orders, the food is much healthier than fast food, and for only $5.00 you can't go wrong.

1x1cm stick of cheese in the "double salmon" roll... you call it creative? Oyako-don was cold and not enough taste in its dashi, coverred with Korean style (three colors) cucumber pickles and thin slice carrot. They might thought it is close to Bi Bim Bup? It is the worst Oyako-don I ever had, (I could try only 1/3 of the bowl). California roll was rolled too softly, so it does not keep the shape when it is pick up by chopsticks. Pupkin Tempra was under cook. They do not know how to cook Japanese food. If you go there, stick with the cheep sushi plates on the boats going around the bar (kaiten zushi style).
