Sushi Zanmai, Boulder, Colorado, Japanese Restaurant Details

Good food. Has a very bad policy of asking for credit cards on the phone when making a reservation. Great way to get a credit card stolen.

I love sushi, but the problem is that I'm allergist to fish. The chefs here at Zanmai make me my favorite non-fish rolls (think: Crab & Shrimp). Before they make it they go ABOVE and beyond by cleaning the entire station they are working at. New cutting board, clean knife, new bamboo, the works. I love that I can feel safe going here and eating one of my favorite foods without risk of becoming ill.

The environment has a great local feel and welcome feeling.

Friends who eat fish tell me its the freshest and best tasting in town.

Well... I talked my friend into going because the quality of food is always so good. It was true. The sushi was tasty. However, the service left something to be desired. Our waitress didn't even bring us a plate to eat off of. I wonder if and when we will go back.

We go to Sushi Zanmai everytime we visit Boulder! my dad spent his college days going there so its only right that I spend some of mine there too! delicious sushi and the service is good during the not busy hours! only place in Boulder that I've been for sushi but definitely one of the best when compared to places here in Albuquerque.

We came here for dinner, the food was very pricy (~20 for an entree). Tuna roll was not seared as I had ordered, I also ordered the teriyaki chicken which came out very rubbery, the person I was with ordered the same and theirs was not rubbery so I sent mine back. The replacement chicken was also rubbery so I ate very little of it. The wait staff was very nice and comped my entree, she said that was a common complaint with the dish. I won't be returning but I did appreciate the effort made by the waitress to make things right.
