Sweet Tomatoes, Raleigh, North Carolina Restaurant Details

Food:

Food was good and service was friendly but they need to start really cleaning their dishes and silverware. I had to search over about 8 plates before I ever found a clean one that didn't have food residue. The dessert bowls had chocolate and other stuff stuck all over them as well. Talk about bacteria. My family and I usually visit this place every other week but until they actually have clean dishes again I will not be back.

Food:

My family and I would eat a Sweet Tomatoes every Saturday. It has always been a great place to have Saturday lunch. BUT yesterday it was terrible. I had to search through about 8 plates until I found a clean one. There was food stuck to the forks, spoons and knives. I finally asked for the manager to let them know what the situation was. Then noticed there was a stick of plates piled and the plates were dirty ...that other customer put to the side. along with forks and spoons. AND the food was terrible. I have never went and there was no hot/fresh food. after having to witness this, myself and family left for another restaurant. Someone should call WRAL restaurant ratings.

Food:

I LOVE salad places, and have always wanted to eat here. BUT was sorely disappointed when EVERY dish, fork, spoon, soup cup, and glass was DIRTY! I had to go though at least 3 items at the minimum to get a fairly clean piece. And I'm not even one of those Anal people that finds fault in everything. That's why I know it was bad. I normally don't complain about much. But I felt this was review worthy. Hopefully something will be done. I dont know if they need to fire their dishwasher, or get a new machine or system of doing it. Obviously something is wrong.

The first plate I grabbed had dried lettuce on it. I just got another one, because things happen ya know. Then at the register where you get your cup I went through 5 dirty glasses before I just asked for a To Go cup instead. The silver ware had to be wiped off, and when I went to get some soup the first cup I grabbed had a huge carrot stuck to the side of it!!!! I was completely disgusted by then. I looked at another one and it had dried food on the inside and the next one was dirty too. I was done. This is a very BIG issue to me. That is unsafe and disgusting. What if someone gets sick because they are not properly cleaning the things we eat and drink out of! It also makes me wonder if they are even cleaning the pots and pans they are cooking the food in properly. If I was an inspector, I would shut them down until they got it together and did a deep cleaning. Sadly, I will NOT be returning to another Sweet Tomatoes ever.

On the up side, They do have good food and choices. Their Praline Muffin is to DIE FOR!!! Sooooo good.

Food:

I knew that Sweet Tomatoes was a primarily vegetarian place, but I didn't know they wouldn't have a single piece of meat in the entire restaurant! I guess that was my fault for not doing my research. This is the place to go if you:
1) Have kids. Children love buffet-style places like this! It's very kid friendly- no alcohol in sight!
2) Are vegetarian, or don't mind not having meat all of the time.
3) Want a "light" dinner. Obviously, because Sweet Tomatoes is a buffet, you can eat as much as you want, but the meal still remains "light" due to the absence of meat.

I liked it overall, though. I recommend you heading there and trying it.

Food:

This place has a great salad bar. They also have soups, breads and a dessert bar. The staff was friendly. They provide a cleaner and calmer atmosphere than Golden Corral. I would say that the salad bar is better than Golden Corral but they have a better hot bar. It's a little pricey especially if it's for lunch, but it is a buffet and there are the bonuses mentioned above.
