03/07/2015 9:37 pmWith so many good restaurants in the area, the Tackle Box, really needs to step up their game. This place could be so much more, just need to fine tune some thing on the menu. I will go back there to give them another chance, however I may not, because like I said there plenty of excellent restaurants in the area. |

02/08/2015 10:48 pmWe ate here as a group. Everything was okay, but ultimately I'm left feeling that I wouldn't return and I wouldn't really recommend it. It's a fine meal, and a fine price given the area... there's just SUCH good food in DC that I wouldn't think to recommend this place specifically. |

05/19/2014 10:12 pmWhat a fantastic happy hour. You would think a little seaside shack on M Street in Georgetown would be packed, but it's not the case. |

12/23/2013 5:03 pmBought a Groupon for The Tackle Box in D.C. while on a trip with my wife to see the Capitol. The restaurant is located in the Georgetown Historic District and the area is absolutely amazing. I wish we had spent more time there. The Tackle Box is nestled amongst the trendiest shopping outlets, directly across from the H&M store. Parking is hard to find but doable. At first glance, the restaurant isn't much on the eyes. It is set up as a cafeteria style restaurant of sorts with benches and a few barstolls at the windows. We both had the Maine Lobster Rolls with French fries that goes at the current market price (which for us was $22 each - by far one of the costliest items on the menu). The owner, an immigrant from Africa, personally greeted us and explained to us the process of ordering when we were ready. The rolls were nothing less than AMAZING. Huge, succulent pieces of lobster tail in a light, cream sauce on a toasted hoagie bun. Phenomenal. I enjoyed a Dos Equis beer and my wife a Margarita with our meal. We arrived just after 3:30 PM and stayed through for Happy Hour (4-7pm) for half priced drinks and $3 Calamari (Excellent). The owner recommended a Baltimore brew he had on tap called Natty Boh that was $4 on Happy Hour and even came up near the end of our meal and gave me a complimentary refill of the beer on the House. Could not say enough good things about this place. Great Management/Ownership and fantastic quality seafood in Georgetown. |

08/05/2013 2:56 pmI was visiting DC and craving seafood, so we had lunch here after seeing the great reviews. I had the lobster roll and my boyfriend had the fried catfish--and we both had sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that for the price, I was expecting a nicer sit-down restaurant, or a greater quantity of food. Still, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. |
