The food and service you get here is really good, unfortunately being along that stretch of Colfax, some really weird people make the atmosphere uncomfortable.

THIS BUSINESS STOLE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION! I visited this establishment one time just over a month ago and used my credit card to pay. I just noticed that "Taki's," or "Maki's" has since charged me for relatively small amounts several times since, even though I have never returned. (BTW: Why did I never return? Because their sushi and sashimi was terrible!) They have been stealing from me by using my credit card information to charge me for purchases I NEVER MADE. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS FRAUDULENT BUSINESS!

So I was surprised to read some negative reviews of unfriendly service as I scrolled this page-- I haven't encountered this mythical grumpy grandma, but you guys should all come back, the people are so friendly now! I started going a few months ago when I moved to this part of Capitol Hill, and I can truly say it is one of the best cheap I've ever been to. I love discovering authentic "hole in the wall" places and Taki's is that-- in the best way possible. Cheap, pretty authentic, HUGE portions. I'm especially passionate about them because everyone there is so nice. I normally don't like the expectation to tip, especially when it's just a counter place, but Taki's doesn't even have a tip slot on the receipt when you pay by credit card. When I asked them about it (I've done so multiple times now), they refused to accept a tip-- repeatedly! They're so modest.

Food is great and comes in huge portions, fresh and flavorful. I particularly recommend the chicken katsu (sp?), breaded and fried to a golden crisp, as well as their shrimp tempura. I always end up not being able to finish what I ordered and it's usually good for two meals (great for a recent grad on a budget!) Yum!!!
