The food was good but that is not what was bad i understand they dont speak english well but after i paid for my meal and was going to leave a tip they complained about me not leaving a tip very loudly as to attract the attention to the other patrons. On top of that the waitresses the whole time we were hovering behind my wife while we ate our food that made us very uncomfortable. This is the reason why we will not be going back not because of the food that was good but the poor customer service.

We love the sesame chicken, pork fried rice and broccoli beef. As well as the non spicy orange chicken that they make especialy for our son because doesn't like spicy food. Service is always great.

Tao Garden has some of the best soups and dishes in the Phoenix area. Its a hole-in-the-wall place that deserves more clients. I am Taiwanese who grew up in California so I am used to best Chinese food in the world, so fake chinese food doesn't do it for me. Their Mao Pao Tofu and soups and noodles held up with the best in LA. Thats saying a lot. Also price is very good.

Super slow service and an rancid oil smell on the lemon fish. Accidentally read the reviews for another restaurant in this plaza and mistook for Tao Garden, so we checked this place out.

Re-read the correct reviews afterward and sure enough they were correct for what we experienced. We would not have eaten here if we would have found the right review before.

On the plus side I got a huge kick out of a fortune cookie that said. "Nothing happines unless first a dream." Yeah, not sure where they were going with that one...

I can't believe the reviews that say this place has horrible service. Yes, it's a Chinese restaurant - they don't speak perfect English, but I've never had a problem with the service. In fact, just last weekend I ordered "off the menu" (deep fried tofu and mixed vegetables in a spicy brown garlic sauce) and they were nothing but accommodating. Oh, and the food came out perfectly!

Despite the friendly service, the real reason to come here is the food. There is seriously NO OTHER Chinese restaurant in the Valley that can hold a candle to their Peking Duck - I get cravings for it and drive across town just to get it. Be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes while they make it fresh for you, but trust me - it's well worth the wait!
