Go to this taqueria! Cardena's has it all! It had a wide range of meats to choose from including a bunch that I've never heard of before (see menu photo). The tasty tacos come with cilantro and onions on corn tortillas. I tried the carnitas (pork - hint of bacon taste), chicken, lengua, and of course the tripas. The tripas was cooked the way I like it, fried and crispy, not mooshy. I also ordered a chorizo tostada, and it was great. Ask for avacado AND white cheese on the tostada, the cashier asked which one I wanted and I said both, you won't regret it. The tostada was super tasty but could have used some refried beans on it. Come to think of it, the only drawback concerning the restaurant was that they didn't have re-fried beans (and they don't serve beer). Instead they had charros, which are whole beans served in a soupy broth.
Taqueria Cardena's features a salsa bar with tons of limes and three kinds of salsa among other toppings. Try the green salsa but don't get confused, because it looks like guacamole and it's pretty hot. And you have to try the Licuados Multivitaminados! They are milk-like fruit smoothy drinks with tiny amounts of grains and vitamins added. They are sweet and good! I like the Platano one, it's banana flavored. But order a small, because the large is the size of a BIG GULP. I left this place with a very full stomach. Aye, aye, aye...
I like how they painted the restaurant inside and out. It's a real "eye catcher", definitely not boring, so it's easy to see when you're driving down the street. This is a fun place to eat, maybe catch up on your Spanish TV shows while you're at it, or listen to your favorite latin music on one of their juke boxes. Go there, you won't be disappointed.
