06/02/2016 9:27 pmProviding a "unique twist on traditional Indian zest, this "inventive", "high-end" "fusion food joint" in Hawthorne focuses on "beautifully prepared" "small plates" paired with "Indian-inspired cocktails"; the "beautiful", "palace"-like setting and "excellent" service round out the "all-around" "dining experience." |

02/25/2015 8:03 pmI really want the concept of this place to work, but overall Tashan is poorly executed and I unfortunately cannot recommend it. The food is just OK (and I love Indian food), the service generally poor, and the bar unprofessional. I've been three times, and the amount of wrong food/drinks/booze I've received at either the bar or at a table is incredible. Last time I was there with my wife we were laughing about how bad the experience was - and that was before we learned later that very day the dishwasher was arrested for raping a young woman in center city! |

02/15/2014 6:59 amVery Disappointing experience, I visited Tashan today with good expectations. To that expectations the ambience and decor surely stood forth, however food was just not up to the expectations, We were offered a set course of menu for $60 per head. We got Veg Biryani which was served without raita. Biryani is no way close to what a biryani should be, It is more like fried rice with vegetables. We got paneer lababdar which was mostly chillies and hardly 3 or 4 small paneer pieces. Lamb chops were very greasy, Biggest disappointment was Chicken Makhani, Chicken was very greasy again.Chicken was dry and separated from the curry. Same sauce is being used in this like malai kofta lollypops or Paneer lababdar and Chicken Makhani with a slight twist. Service was bad, no serving spoons came with the dishes,I had to ask for them. Server took our drinks for refill and did not return for like 15 minutes. If you are looking for good Indian food this place is not for you, Its a trendy place with fusion food which does not taste anything like the authentic Indian dishes. I also felt that serving size is very small and prices are high. In the name of americanization they have completely lost the spirit of great Indian recipes. Overpriced. |

07/28/2013 6:18 pm7/27/2013: Had chef's tasting dinner ($60 pp) with optional wine pairing ($25). Five courses of two separate dishes, including diver scallops, shrimp kebob, lamb chops, venison filet, and dessert sampler of creme brulee, cinnamon chocolate mouse, and homemade ice cream. Not your typical Indian fare, safe for beginners. Portions were plenty. Accommodated gluten free request. Server Casey was friendly, attentive. Wood/stone decor was modern, upscale. Free valet outside front door was super convenient and well worth the tip. Bar/lounge worth a visit. Bartenders really know how to make a cocktail. Drink menu is one of best I've seen in Philly, complete with unique selections and flights. Saturday night happy hour 9p-11p also a bonus. Highly recommended. |

12/07/2012 12:26 pmI had a great experience here. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. That was pricy, but we were beyond full. The menu is reasonably priced otherwise. I was nervous to try this place because of terrible wait staff reviews, but they must’ve changed things around since then, because our experience was very nice. We had incredible seating food and service all night. |
