07/08/2012 4:38 amFood was very good, but overpriced. I like the whole "locally sourced" concept, but it isn't worth a 15% surcharge over a better meal at someplace like Flyte or Watermark. I don't mind paying a little extra if I feel like I'm getting something for it, but the atmosphere was odd - especially the loud funk music playing throughout the night. Service was decent, but nothing special. Food was very slow in coming out and they apparently refuse to put more than 4 quarter-size mini cornbread muffins in the basket at a time. Normally not something to complain about art a fine dining place, but the appetizers were very small portions - literally 3 pieces of 3" okra for $12 - so I was left a little hungry waiting 20 minutes between appetizers and entrees in a party of two. Not bad if you eat around Nashville's food scene and haven't tried it, but not someplace I plan to return anytime soon. |

02/25/2012 1:47 pmI am a native Nashvillian and have eaten at almost every higher end restaurant in this city. I was part of a party of four last evening that had the worst meal ever! Nothing was good. Appetizers, salads and main courses all the way around were simply bad. Maybe the chef had to leave and the bartender cooked....who knows. I personally would not recommend this place to my worst enemy or even take home the scraps to my dogs. Not only the poor food, but several dishes, wines and beers were not available from the start, limiting the overall choices. Our server was somewhat over the top describing either the "tasting" experience or simply an "off menu" one...I am glad that I can check this one off the list and not return. |

08/21/2011 6:05 pmTayst is consistently a good night out with seasonally appropriate menus that rely on local ingredients. The food is well prepared and always combined to make one of the areas most creative menus. Trust the barkeep/ sommelier to match your meal to a wine and just sit back, relax and savor a fabulous meal. |

01/13/2010 6:10 ammy wife and i enjoyed a lovely date night at Tayst. the food was delicious and adventurous, and even the lighting conspired to make us feel welcome. we went with the wine pairing suggested by the menu for each course, and were very happy that we did. our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and timed our courses PERFECTLY. he was very happy to discuss the wines in detail with us. even the person filling our water glasses was friendly and timely. the dessert of Krispy Kreme bread pudding served in a donut shape with miniature java milkshake (not kidding) was the prefect close to an evening we hope to revisit soon. |
