I had a very pleasurable experience here recently.

The backstory: I was at Mary and Mark's home and we were watching the Cook's Country episode on Tex-Mex together and laughing our heads off. Whomever had done the research on the roots of Tex-Mex had gotten so many facts wrong that we were convinced that it was an angry internist who had set out to prank Christopher Kimball with bad information, which they knew he would then deliver with a straight face and an air of authority. And then, they made "enchiladas" in some sort of whacked out recipe that they go from who knows where that resulted in a dark, almost burned looking chili gravy. And this episode made us really hungry for Tex-Mex.

Now, I hadn't been to Tecate in donkey's ears, but Mark and Mary default here regularly. So we went.

I was impressed by the menu. There appeared to be at least four different sauces one could choose from. The waitress was kind enough to bring me two, in order to make my choice. I opted for the milder one that shows up on the Enchiladas Bravas and I substituted ground beef for the chicken or beef. The beans and rice were good, though not up to my favorite Trigo's Mexican restaurant. But well within the universe of of Tex-Mex. My friends opted for more of a breakfast fare and both dishes looked really good.

My food was wonderful, the price reasonable and I upgraded to one of the specialty margaritas and it was awesome. Definite thumbs up from me.

This is the worst and over charged place I've ever eat at. Keep your money and go to Taco Bell instead. You'll get a better meal at a better price. 2/13/2016

Bad! My son found a hair in his rice and when we told them they seemed like they didn't believe us. My son was disgusted and didn't want to eat anything else. We came because of the good reviews but i regret it. I had more onion and bell pepper on my plate than i did pork chops.. We would have been happier at a taco stand..

This is our favorite restaurant for Mexican. The staff is friendly, and the food is the best! The pork chop is unbelievable (and I don't usually like pork chops that much), and their spinach enchiladas are awesome.
