Yes, this place is dated. However, we have frequented this place many times within the last five years (10 years for my hubby), and we enjoy coming to this establishment. Our children like to request this restaurant for their birthdays due to the onion volcanoes. The chefs are always entertaining. The waiters/waitresses are always accommodating especially if you have questions or concerns. If we have any concerns, the people that work here always quickly fix the issues. We love the food!

I have eaten here several times and I have not had great experiences for the most part. They need to update their decor, the staff needs to understand English a little more...I asked for hot tea and got sake and she wouldn't get that I wanted tea. So I drank it... Anyways, I just don't recommend them...id rather go to Kyoto.

This restaurant is fun to go to but the condition of the restaurant and their food handling practices really concerns me. The outside of the building and the parking lot is filthy and littered with cigarette butts. The inside's roof is bulging, stained, and falling down. They have really disgusting couches for customers to sit on while waiting.

Sometimes they will put you on the side of the table where you are literally behind the chef and cant even watch him cook like everyone in front can. They also have some dirty looking people come around in jeans and a t-shirt to refill your drink and take your plates.

On one occasion, my entire table received very dirty and sticky spoons to eat our soup with and all of us got sick within an hour or so after leaving the restaurant.

Throwing the shrimp for people to catch is fun, but one time I saw a customer miss the shrimp. It hit his mouth and then fell into the rice on the chef's serving cart. Instead of getting a new bowl of rice, the chef simply removed the shrimp and served it to the table behind us.

So while the restaurant itself is filthy and I really have no idea how they pass health code, it is a fun experience with watching the chef's cook.
