Hmmmm, it was OK. The customer service was good, as was the food. I do have to say that this seems like one of those Thai restaurants that pride themselves on being different like...."im sorry, we don't make it that way here.... " Having said that, the food is fresh and the flavor is there, so it gets 4 stars. Who puts noodles over a bed of iceberg lettuce and bean sprouts? And why?

I'm not sure why the reviews are so high for this place; it's forgettable, with spotty service and odd pricing. There are several far-superior Thai restaurants in the area, including Thai Palace just down the street.

I called and asked if I could get a reservation for 5 people - 3 adults and 2 kids - for 7. I was told I wouldn't need one, that they wouldn't be too busy. We show up and are told there's a 30 minute wait, even though there are several 2-tops with "reserved" cards on them. That's odd, we though, because they then proceeded to tell us that they didn't take reservations for parties of less than 6. Uh huh.

15 minutes later, we had a table.

Kids menu is very strange - $8 or so for 2 skewers of meat and some rice. Our kids were still hungry after the tiny serving.

The curries were acceptable, but barely. Watery, and the green - which was advertised as spicier than the others on the menu - was completely bland, with no spice whatsoever. The waiter then admonished me when I commented on this by telling me I should have asked for it spicy if I wanted it spicy (why didn't HE ask - isn't that his job? And why does the menu advertise it as spicy if it's going to be made super mild?).

The tom kha was decent, although again barely spiced - this is definitely a white person's version of Thai food, and nothing like what I've had in Thailand or at other Thai restaurants in Sacramento or the Bay Area.

Forgettable, boring, difficult to catch the eye of a server. They did refill our water glasses very quickly, though.

Overall: Meh.

This was our third trip to Sac from Montana and we made a special side trip to eat here after having two great meals a year ago. It was just as great as we remembered. The food and the service were exceptional. The Thai tea is delicious, the drunken noodles were excellent and the creamy red curry with pork was incredible. Finished off with sticky black rice with coconut ice cream, it was a perfect evening. We will be back!

I don't know how they made the food taste like it came fresh off the BBQ and authenic but they did and it was awesome. Service was great and attentive. Bathroom was clean. Good size portions. Nice atmosphere. Would definately go back. They even remembered to not put peanuts in my pad thai, most places don't pay attention to that.
