Thai Crystal Restaurant, Albuquerque, New Mexico Restaurant Details

Food:

The restaurant is no longer called the same thing so it's easy to second guess it. There is only a small sign with the new restaurant name posted. Bad location where you have to park across the street and walk a bit to access it. Overall a good taste.

Food:

This restaurant is recently under new management. The staff are friendly and remember their customers well, they make everything fresh and to order. It's a shame they don't get more business.

Food:

Scenario: Trying to kill time before movie starts. (approximately 8:30 PM on a Saturday)

Us: Lets get an appetizer and a drink. Walk into Thai Crystal, it's like a ghost town (only employees sitting around chatting, hours prior to closing). We'll just sit at the bar.
Staff: You can only get appetizer at the bar.
Us: Yeah, we just want an appetizer and a drink.
Staff: Uh, you guys been drinking? (not at all intoxicated)
Us: What? Had a couple of beers earlier.
Staff: We're not really the kind of place you can just come & drink at. (said while standing in front of fully stocked bar).
You should go. (as we're already walking out.)
Us: We leave, confused by the unusual situation and find our selves a more respectable establishment. Later on the way to our movie, we walk past Thai Crystal and what do we see but several people seated at the bar who are obviously just drinking & not eating appetizers.

They can have that place, good luck to any future patrons of this sub par outfit. I have to admit, that after reading some of these other reviews. I'm glad they didn't give me the chance to waste my time or money. Besides there are plenty of other great places in downtown ABQ.

I normally wouldn't write a review but I am very upset about my treatment at Thai Crystal.
My husband and I went there on Saturday to get a drink and an appetizer before a movie. We went into the restaurant, there was nobody in there. There was a worker on their break and a bartender talking. They did not greet us when we walked in. We felt like we were bothering them or something. We went up to the bar to sit down and the bartender stopped us and said we couldn't sit there because he could only serve us appetizers at the bar. We said that was fine and that was all we wanted. He then asked us if we had been drinking. Well, it was 8:30 Saturday night and I had a few beers at my company picnic. I didn't realize that was a crime. We were far from drunk, actually we had just got done with a 4 mile bike ride there. The bartender then told us that this wasn't the type of place where you could sit at the bar and asked us to leave. We were so stunned we just left.

Oh, it gets better....
We went up the road to Chama and just settled on a few pints. I was still hardly tipsy. They had no problems with us being there. We talked to the bartender the whole time, and he was very nice. When it came time to go to the movie we walked past Thai Crystal and there were four (*gasp*) people sitting at the bar drinking. They weren't even eating any food!!
So anyway, I called today to talk to a manager. It turns out that the bartender is actually the owners son, and that's who I called to complain to. He told me he can refuse service to anyone he wants and he doesn't have to answer to me. He also told me that if I told anyone about what happened it would be considered slander and that is against the law. He also said I could call and talk to his father but it wouldn't matter. Needless to say, I am in shock.
Thai Crystal is not very vegan friendly as it is, but after this experience I can't say much else is friendly about them. I'm sticking to Thai Vegan for my Thai food. What an ordeal!!

Food:

I was there last friday and day the mixed vegatables with chicken and mmmm the best. I love the flavor.
