05/19/2015 2:44 pmStopped in for lunch on the recommendation of someone who works in the area. My wife had vegetarian pad thai, and I the shrimp pad khi mao. The food was just plain bad. Both dishes were cloyingly sweet (mine nearly inedibly so) and had the texture/look/taste of canned sauce thickened with cornstarch. The noodles were very gummy as well. The service was good and the price was right ($24 for both us including tip), but if the food is bad who cares? |

02/20/2015 3:21 pmMy friend, her parents, and myself decided to visit on Valentine's day. We figured it would not be as busy since it is outside of downtown and we arrived around 9:45pm. The restaurant only had ~7 tables (largest being a 5-top) and 3 servers. Since both my friend and I work in the service industry, we expected this to be adequate staff for the volume in the restaurant. WRONG!!! It took us roughly 10 minutes to order drinks and once they were made, they sat on the bar for another 10 minutes while our server walked past them (empty-handed) multiple times. ***Not to mention one server too busy taking selfies at the bar with a patron*** Finally we got our drinks and placed our food order. Roughly 25 minutes went by and I was served food along with my friend's parents. However, my friend (who ordered extra spicy soup w/ tofu) had NO food and no explanation offered by the server. Another 5 minutes went by before we could grab him and tell him we were still waiting on food. He rushed off saying it was almost ready but it was obvious that he had totally forgotten about her order. In the meantime, we watched a random girl wander in/out of the kitchen (not dressed as an employee). When my friend's order finally arrived over 10 minutes after everyone else had been served, it was NOT spicy and there was NO tofu in it. Extremely disappointed but by this point we were so ready to leave! Seriously worst service I've had in a long time. It was clear that they do not care about their business. Do yourself a favor and go to Dalat for better Thai food that actually tastes good. |

09/07/2014 6:49 pmNow I love my Thai food and thankfully, we've got some good options in Raleigh but many of them are OTB (outside the beltline). ITB there's only one choice in my opinion, Thaiphoon Bistro. Located off of S. Glenwood, they dish out pretty spicy curries, noodles and more in a pretty mod environment. Portion-sizes are really healthy and prices seem to have dropped recently making for a good value. |
