08/12/2014 12:16 pmThis is one of the onsite facilities at the Biltmore that if you get the right deal, you can really put this place to good use. Since the Biltmore is a resort, the stores and restaurants are typically more pricey due to the convenience and the lack of compeition. This shop is stocked with what you would need or want, but does cost you a pretty penny. When staying here, see about deals that will get you credits at restaurants or on food. Then the guilt is lessened as you buy the $8 bottle of Voss water. |

08/10/2014 12:27 pmWe went here for an early breakfast. The outdoor seating itself is nice but not protected from second-hand tobacco smoke. I went to the different restaurants in search of a good cup of tea but was overall disappointed. Each of the restaurants only had Tazo tea, which is solidly within grocery-store quality tea. For such a luxurious hotel, I expected a high-quality tea to accompany the fine dining; for instance, a nice loose-leaf tea from Paris or London or at the very least, something along the lines of Mighty Leaf. Because this wasn't available, I got a nice Illy cappuccino. The supplies within the store are overpriced (at $8 for a liter of smartwater) but they had nice options like bagels and lox and yogurt parfaits. The selection of non-pastries was low but adequate, and what was there was good quality. The cranberry orange muffin was fresh and tart. The service at the cafe was adequate but not outstanding. I would have preferred more variety, more reasonable prices, better team and higher quality service. |
