Best steak in Omaha because of famous whiskey marinade, and atmosphere.

From the very moment you walk into The Drover, you feel welcome when you step in and are greeted by either Buddy or Spike. These two exemplary gentleman accommodate guests down to the tee. I have always felt like a friend or family member since the first moment I met these guys, simply from the way they treat everyone.

The lighting is always dimmed to increase your comfort level whether you're dining in your own nook around the restaurant, or sitting in the fabulous bar being tended to with a smile from Tony or Justin.

The perfect, classic, yet simple salad bar offers true original options including a chilled plate. Not a better option in town when it comes to ordering an appetizer before the perfect steak can be offered other than bacon wrapped shrimp. Finally, feast on any cut you fancy, with or without the whiskey marinade. I recommend the bone in whiskey rib eye.

The Drover is simply a classic and a must.

Ate at the Drover in the spring, while there I could smell mildew so I asked if they were having roof leaks. They were but the manager wasn't there to approve an estimate. Stopped in today to ask again and the wait staff was incredibly rude! First she said they have their own snow removal people, I advised I was there for roofing. She then rudely said they have their own roofer! Apparently they have their own customers and don't require anymore as the old ones pass away from the mold that has obviously developed since the spring. If you make the mistake of going there just walk through the door and take a deep breath, you'll smell the mildew, then turn around and go to an amazing restaurant with a great staff, awesome pricing, and amazing food such as Spezia or Anthony's Steakhouse.

Walked in,,WAITED to be greeted. Older man walked up to us, we told him we have a reservation at 5pm. (just opened), He POINTED, "sit over there". Umm.. didn't take us to our seats,, just pointed.
Bar gal came over and asked, "Can I get you something besides water?" She didn't have to add that line in there!
They brought us our drinks, server came and took our order. Ordered 2 steaks Medium..1 Medium well. He told us we need to butterfly our steaks. 1 of us did.( STILL wasn't cooked! Must not have chefs)
Salad bar is ICEBERG Lettuce only, fresh though. (last time we ate there, we found HAIR in the Salad dressing, and they DIDNT SAY anything when I approached them about it!)
Steaks came and they were RAW! The server did not come around until 2 of our party was about done with their dinners. Finally he came and asked us if everything was ok. Told him we needed our steaks (2) to be cooked longer,, they are not done. He grabbed our plates.. he left. He brought our steaks back along time after....he put the plates down and LEFT. He didn't ask us to check them. We cut the steaks and they still weren't cooked! WE waited on him to come back ,, he NEVER did come back...we were needing more drinks, too. I left my steak on my plate in a pool of blood! He brought the bill and didn't ask us for any dessert, either, all he said was do you want a box for that? I told him NO, IT WAS NOT COOKED! He said I should of told him about it. We told him he NEVER came back and a place like this, the steaks should be cooked the way it was ordered, especially sending it back and having it cooked 2 times!. He never apologized or anything!!! NOT worth 41.00!!! There was NO whiskey flavor on the steak as ordered! Over all,, DO NOT GO HERE! Customer service is poor, and there are a lot of STEAK houses in Omaha to go to that are far better,, with super customer service!!

THE DROVER DUMP: AVOID THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GO RIGHT DOWN THE STREET TO ANTHONY'S STEAK HOUSE.

Friday night around 6:30, I called ahead to check on wait times. I was told there was a 30 minute wait. Being 15 minutes away, I asked to make a reservation so we wouldn't have a long wait once we arrived. I was told to "just come on in, I have people in the hallway that are waiting to be put onto the list as well". Upon arrival, there were tables open and no one waiting. The same person who answered the phone was the same person who received us. He asked how many in my party and I told him two. His response... "Do you have a reservation?". I said no so in response he informed me about the was a 30 minute wait. I explained to him that I was denied a reservation when I called just 15 minutes prior and he immediately starts arguing with me about why he didn't give me a reservation during the phone call... totally disrespectful, unprofessional and in no way deserving of my nor anyone else's hard earned money.

I walked out and went to Anthony's steakhouse a couple minutes away, had a fantastic dinner at a fraction of the price with a courteous and on point wait staff. Definitely eat there and skip the Drover Dump.
