The food was awesome. Our server was amazing. HOWEVER. If you make a reservation for a large party, just don't. If your party doesn't show, they'll charge you outrageous amounts of money! We were put in a room we didn't even ask for and there were only 6 of us (which we called the same day to let them know there were a lot less than originally expected) and they said we didn't meet the $600 minimum for the room they put us in (again that we didn't ask for) and tried to charge us an extra $287!!! Said we had a "contract" that we had to obey when they never took a credit card or had anyone sign anything! How is a restoring reservation a "contract"??? We threw a huge fit and after making us wait like an extra HOUR the manager finally comes back and says the owner agreed it was a "misunderstanding" and they would "waive" the fee. So insanely awful. Will not ever go back, like ever. Overpriced hoity toity ass chef anyway.

We love The Grove Grill. I do believe they have the best Shrimp & Grits in Memphis. Also, I can't eat at The Grove without having the fried green tomatoes with the pepper jelly on the side. My daughter loves the roast duckling (and it is delicious), My husband and I like a variety, so we always share. Last night for entrees, I ordered the shrimp and grits and he ordered the wood grilled salmon. They were both absolutely amazing. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. I honestly can't wait to go back. There were so many appealing choices on the menu. I want to try them all! I also love the fact that they have a tapas menu and small plates. This is great for foodies like us who want it all!

BEWARE of Food Poisoning!! Made 3 people SICK

My husband and two of our friends dined at the Grove Grill for our friend's birthday and three out of the four us got sick almost immediately after eating. Our friend's birthday was ruined and my husband and I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom.

I called the Grove the next day and was told that no one else who had eaten there got sick and 'sorry'. Unpleased by the response I e-mailed the owner.... NO RESPONSE.

To me this a really big deal - 3 people got VERY SICK from eating there! The food was also very VERY sub par, especially for the price, but that's not what is most important.

I e-mail AGAIN and finally a response saying they were sorry we did not ENJOY a menu item and that the food wasn't too our expectations and that they would credit us or something.

I almost laughed when I read that. It has nothing to do with us ENJOYING or the food meeting out expectations, WE GOT FLIPPIN' FOOD POISONING FROM YOU PEOPLE!

Nothing about us getting sick or trying to find out what made us sick was mentioned but I still thought it was fair of them to offer to credit our meal ( I had to mention being credited for the food - when I spoke to them on the phone nothing of that sort was mentioned. This is very unclassy for a so-called classy place )

I responded explaining to them that we used a gift card and tipped cash, blah blah blah, and NO RESPONSE.

I wait a WEEK ( like a did before ) and still NO response.

I write again asking if anyone has recieved my e-mail.

NO RESPONSE

So today I informed them that I would make sure people knew how we were treated and that we got sick off their crappy high dollar food and that is excatly what I am doing! BE CAREFUL OF THIS PLACE FOLKS!

My husband and I have wanted to try The Grove Grill but hadn't had the chance until yesterday. We shared the lobster bisque for an appetizer and found it to be fairly tasty but a little thin for bisque. I ordered the crab cake with creamed corn and a micro salad. It looked great on the plate, but the crab cake had little flavor. I didn't expect anything compared to the "late, great" Cayenne Moon, but even my lowered expectations were not met. The micro salad greens were fresh, but the viniagrette had too much oil. The corn was pretty good, though. My husband ordered the catfish with fries and the same corn dish. His fries were cold, even though our meal was served in a timely fashion. And the fish, though I really do hate to complain, was greasy and fishy. It even looked heavy on the plate. I know people with refined taste would question even ordering catfish; but we Southerners know you can do catfish that transcends thoughts of "bottomfeeders." We REALLY wanted lunch to be good. The atmosphere and service were enjoyable and made us want to try the restaurant again. Surely we just visited on an off day?
