12/19/2015 4:13 amThe food was awesome. Our server was amazing. HOWEVER. If you make a reservation for a large party, just don't. If your party doesn't show, they'll charge you outrageous amounts of money! We were put in a room we didn't even ask for and there were only 6 of us (which we called the same day to let them know there were a lot less than originally expected) and they said we didn't meet the $600 minimum for the room they put us in (again that we didn't ask for) and tried to charge us an extra $287!!! Said we had a "contract" that we had to obey when they never took a credit card or had anyone sign anything! How is a restoring reservation a "contract"??? We threw a huge fit and after making us wait like an extra HOUR the manager finally comes back and says the owner agreed it was a "misunderstanding" and they would "waive" the fee. So insanely awful. Will not ever go back, like ever. Overpriced hoity toity ass chef anyway. |

11/19/2011 3:45 pmWe love The Grove Grill. I do believe they have the best Shrimp & Grits in Memphis. Also, I can't eat at The Grove without having the fried green tomatoes with the pepper jelly on the side. My daughter loves the roast duckling (and it is delicious), My husband and I like a variety, so we always share. Last night for entrees, I ordered the shrimp and grits and he ordered the wood grilled salmon. They were both absolutely amazing. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. I honestly can't wait to go back. There were so many appealing choices on the menu. I want to try them all! I also love the fact that they have a tapas menu and small plates. This is great for foodies like us who want it all! |

07/16/2010 4:35 pmMy husband and I have wanted to try The Grove Grill but hadn't had the chance until yesterday. We shared the lobster bisque for an appetizer and found it to be fairly tasty but a little thin for bisque. I ordered the crab cake with creamed corn and a micro salad. It looked great on the plate, but the crab cake had little flavor. I didn't expect anything compared to the "late, great" Cayenne Moon, but even my lowered expectations were not met. The micro salad greens were fresh, but the viniagrette had too much oil. The corn was pretty good, though. My husband ordered the catfish with fries and the same corn dish. His fries were cold, even though our meal was served in a timely fashion. And the fish, though I really do hate to complain, was greasy and fishy. It even looked heavy on the plate. I know people with refined taste would question even ordering catfish; but we Southerners know you can do catfish that transcends thoughts of "bottomfeeders." We REALLY wanted lunch to be good. The atmosphere and service were enjoyable and made us want to try the restaurant again. Surely we just visited on an off day? |
