Me and my fiancé went out for lunch and ended up at the linker, our first time there. When we arrived the ambiance was great, we thought for sure there would be good food and good spirits.
We ordered drinks and food, the tea that I got was not what I was expecting, for my fiancés mimosa it took about 10 minutes to get his drink.

The food was ok, I had a biscuit breakfast sandwich that was served with fruit that looked to me that was not wasted so I couldn't enjoy the fruit.
For my fiancé he had the breakfast burger, it was over cooked, and very salty, and had too much onions caramelized onions and pickled onions I just don't understand, Why would they do this to a burger?

The server was nice and friendly. Overall the meal was pricey and very disappointing. Not to mention the 18% automatic tip.

I wouldn't go back there again.

For a place that makes their own bread, sauerkraut and cures their own meat, I was excited to order their reuben. BIG GIANT disappointment - -I plan to write them with some well intended feedback. BUT in the meantime, the bread is way too thick and extremely skimpy on the sauerkraut and meat. Not sure why I didn't turn it back to them - every bite of meat had too much gristle to chew, so had to spit it out. Not enough sauerkraut to even taste - - I'm just shaking my head in disbelief as I write this. NO WAY is this sandwich worth $15 - I would personally be embarrassed to serve their little round chocolate dessert cookies... So far this place is 2 good experiences out of 4 - not consistent. Sorry guys.

$$$$$$ Too expensive for what you get and the sub-par service. Be aware they automatically add an 18% gratuity, which they do not post, nor tell you about beforehand.
We were greeted almost immediately at our table, we needed a minute... well that minute took about 5-7 minutes. Our waitress was nice and polite, but not attentive. When we got our bill, I noticed we were over-charged for our fries. (substituting fries instead of chips was supposed to be 2.50 OUCH! but they charged us 3.50) Our waitress did not appear to be coming back to allow us to pay. I had to go to the host, who went and found her. She said no one had ever noticed the over-charge on the fries... She said she took them off so we wouldn't be charged at all. Nice huh? Well that's not actually what she did, she took off one of them, not both. We were not offered drinks (the water was good) and we were not offered a high chair for my toddler. I had to request one when halfway through our meal when I saw someone else get one. When you go here, expect slow service and expect to pay a lot. Two meals and one kids meal was close to $50. I do not recommend The Linkery.

The menu is insane and the food is top quality. I tried one of their bitter beers which they have a large selection of and that was an expirience in its own. Very unique tasting style of beer. My party left stuffed and satisfied.

The place has a good message (farm to table) but the execution is always off somehow. Jay Porter, the owner, is an elitist tool. If you don't like the food, you are to blame. Check Yelp reviews to get a real sense of the place. Writers from outside SD seem to always point to this place as best in SD, but most SD residents despise this place. Overpriced, underserviced, totally overrated.

I've never had a perfect meal here.
