01/17/2012 1:20 amOnce every year or so I have the opportunity to spend some time in DC, and each time I make it a point to bring my company to Melting Pot. The atmosphere is enjoyable, the staff are courteous and friendly, and of course the food is very delicious! If there were one complaint it's that sometimes the pricing does seem rather high. I recall my most recent visit had me spending an easy $120+ for just myself and one friend. |

02/28/2011 12:38 pmI thought the Melting Pot was very overpriced for what they actually delivered. For the fondue, you get a pot of melted cheese, a bowl of cut-up bread, and a bowl of cut-up apple slices. For the $20-$24 "entree" you get a relatively small quantity of uncooked meat laid on a plate, and a small bowl of uncooked vegetables, which you then cook yourself. Yes, you can have a good time with your group, but you can do that elsewhere at lower cost with better food. If you are willing to pay a relatively high price for the "experience", or to provide a way to keep your group together for a few hours, then maybe this is the place. Other reviewers clearly liked it. But I would not return. |

02/14/2011 9:47 pmA perfect date place. Never been to a place like this but it was Aweeeeesome. The food alone is a great conversational piece but add the atmosphere, people you love and the night will get away with you. We laughed and ate and laughed and ate. Our server Steve, who is an artist, was most excellent. If we ever go back I will make sure he's working that night and request a table in his area. The whole staff was great. I ended up loosing my phone and the staff when on an Indiana Jones search - it was in the empty seat next to my guess. It was a new venture but one we loved. We will be back. |
