I've been coming here for years off and on and it is a great atmosphere with a smoke free bar up front, the backdoor lounge (where smoking is permitted) is comfortable and nicely furnished, with a second full bar. The back patio is where the beautiful old tree with the most awesome comfortable, be as you are attitude is not only acceptable but encouraged.

If you want to see some of the raunchiest gay men, most with cigarettes hanging from their mouths then this is the place. Even the bartender Steve serves drinks with a cigarette dangling from his lips. Hey a little ash in your drink won't kill you! The outdoor patio is just as smokey. If there were 15 people outside at least 10 had a cigarette in their hand. After 10 minutes we left because my eyes were stinging from the smoke. We returned to the hotel and a shower was a welcome relief. I pity the gay men in Memphis....at least the men at The Pumping Station.
