I used to enjoy patronizing this restaurant but after they have lobbied against making the streets in front of their business more safe and friendly for bikers and pedestrians, I can no longer ethically support their business. Research in urban areas all around the country show that creating more bike and pedestrian friendly cityscapes improve access and business. it would create hey beautiful city destination.

The Refectory Cafe is a gem of a spot. My husband and I stopped in today for lunch and were not disappointed. The vegan bowl and black bean burger were healthy and yummy. The chocolate vegan cheesecake is one to not miss. Service is friendly and it's such a nice, warm spot. We'll try to get back before leaving NC.

A delightful quick-service restaurant with something for everyone on the menu and some of the best vegan food in the area. The beanburger and vegan bowl were both excellent and I would quite happily eat an entire chocolate cake to myself (though a one slice portion will leave you full). The place is buzzing and all the food I saw being served looked really good. The service was friendly and helpful and it's the sort of understated restaurant that makes you wish they were more places just like it.

This business is shady and very underhanded. I have seen on multiple occasions how the owners STEAL tips from the servers by making them put their hard earned tips in a jar that is then used to purchase food FROM THE CAFE. HOW CAN THIS BE LEGAL!!! Half the organic food items are you guessed NOT organic. The so-called vegan chilli is made with soy products. These women are scam artist who found a way to cash in on desperate college students by pay low wages and stealing tips. I even knew a young woman who was fired because she kept her tips for gas money to get to work. Please save you money and go to a more reputable business cause these people are scammers!!!!
