12/03/2015 3:10 amOne of my favorite concert venues! This is a small place, but you can grab a beer, play some pool, and hear some solid acts. I love visiting when I can. |

06/02/2011 2:47 pmThis place is making a poor attempt to be a venue for nationally known musicians. It is essentially a small bar and a small stage not much bigger than my living room...this may be appropriate for local and regional acts, but does not have the space or know how to host nationally known acts. Saw a well known blues artist here a couple days ago and although the band was fantastic, the cafe's soundman had no idea how to run the board, making a great band sound awful. The small cafe was oversold, and many patrons had to stand thru the whole show. Place also isn't subject to the PA no smoking law. Again, this is fine and even expected for a small blues bar hosting local or lesser known acts, but if you're going to host a well known musician, you should know what you're doing and respect the band and their fans! Talked to the artist after the show, don't think he was too happy about the situation, either! Suggest contacting the folks at Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA if you want to learn how to run a quality small music venue. Doubt I'll be back even if someone I like is going to be there. I have attended probably over 1,000 shows over the years every place from arenas to small clubs, and this was one of the worst. Is a shame that Pgh still doesn't have a good space for smaller shows. |

08/26/2010 3:43 pmGood music and decent food, but it tends to be very smoky (especially near the sound mixer) and the small floor space in front of the stage is too crowded for a lot of bands. |
