We held our parent's 50th wedding anniversary party here. The food was fantastic! The view was incredible! The staff was so helpful and attentive. I was trying to plan the event long distance and was so pleased with everything they did to make the event memorable and special.

AMAZING!!!! We had our Wedding reception here on October 11, 2014. Food and service were fantastic! SOOOO much great food!!!! There as not one single complaint from our 40 guests. Many claimed that was the best steak they have ever eaten! I could not have chosen a better place for our reception. The Manager/Chef Diane, the Service Leader Allison, and the entire staff were so accommodating! WOW!!! I am the happiest Bride ever! Thank you, Tin Angel, for turning a wonderful day into a SPECTACULAR night!!! The Repniks

My husband and I decided to stop in after looking at their menu online. A middle aged Caucasian female with auburn spiky hair approached us with a very concerned look. We nervously asked "Is this Tin Angel?" Rudely, she said YES? We awkwardly waited for her to ask us if we'd like a table but she just kept staring at us from the end of the hall waiting for us to leave. We asked if we could be seated. She gave us a puzzled look and dripping with condescension said, "Take a look at the menu. You do realize it's a 7 course fixed price meal?" (Which we were looking forward to.) At this point I was extremely insulted and said "Yes are aware of the price." She stormed away while saying "Hold on." We stood there totally humiliated for a couple minutes in shock then walked out.

The worst part is that my brief account really didn't capture how incredibly offensive and humiliating the experience was. After having told the story at work today, my co-workers are infuriated and wondered why I didn't demand a manager. I guess I was so embarrassed that I just walked out. We were considering this place to host a massive event. I'm not sure why we were discriminated against like it was the 1930's to tell you the truth. We were dressed up and very polite. Was it our age (most of the patrons were middle aged or above) or I hate to say this...our race? I hope Tin Angel Pittsburgh reaches out and makes this situation better as I'm still keen on tasting the food (foodies at heart will stay foodies at heart).

First off, let me say that any restaurant in danger of failing is delaying the inevitable by offering Groupons. A Groupon should be seen as a Death Certificate for an establishment on life support and a clear sign to stay away.

I had purchased a Groupon for the Tin Angel and decided to use it on Valentine’s Day for dinner with my wife. In short it was the WORST meal either of us had ever experienced in over 20 years of dining out frequently.

We were greeted rudely by staff; pointed (not shown) to a table where I was seated with my back to the city skyline – a major feature of the Restaurant. The décor is circa 1950’s and has an overall feel of a place stuck in a time warp.

The soup du jour was Italian Wedding Soup, which was served in a cup not much larger than a shot glass and whose spinach was the consistency of seaweed. The “fresh fruit in season” consisted of 2 watermelon balls, 2 blueberries 2 honeydew balls and a 1-inch piece of pineapple.

For entrees, the Black Forest Filet – “a charbroiled filet mignon stuffed with pitted black cherries & served with béarnaise” – was unrecognizable as an actual cut of meat. I honestly do not know WHAT it was other than inedible and horrifically overpriced at 60 Dollars! The Chicken a la Angel – “boneless breasts stuffed with spinach & jumbo lump crab meat served with béchamel”, was equally inedible – not to mention there was only ONE. The rice pilaf with pignolia nuts accompaniment was straight of an Uncle Bens box, and the Romano Cheese on the baked Beefsteak tomato was downright caustic.

Other than the staff who work there, I can’t believe anyone would shed a tear if this place were to close tomorrow if only to remove a blight from the culinary landscape and offer a more worthy establishment the opportunity to take advantage of the location.

Great Food, Great View, Great service. Good for a special occasion. Very expensive but doable with a coupon discount. Went here since Georgetown is closed. Very nice!
