03/30/2015 7:13 amFor a restaurant that is supposed to be focused on breakfast, I have to say it was awful. How can a "breakfast restaurant" not be able to serve the simplest of breakfast foods. First, the quality of some of the food is very poor and at best equivalent to fast food, ie the bacon. The bacon is so thin, almost all fat, and undercooked, and brought to the table cold. Which brings me to the next issue. I was in the Toast in Huntington around 8AM on a Sunday morning. It was not that crowded yet. It took almost 20 minutes for my simple 2 eggs over easy, TOAST(aka name of the place), home fries, and corned beef hash to come. When the plate finally arrived, everything was ICE COLD! The plate must have been sitting somewhere undetected by the server. Something must have happened to the egg whites of my eggs, because It was basically to over easy yolks(which were not really over easy) with very little eggs white surrounding the yolk, a very odd looking egg. The TOAST was almost burnt and cold as well (burnt and cold, how long was my TOAST sitting???), and trying to spread the frozen butter they give you was impossible. Next, stay away from the corned beef hash. It was under cooked shreaded potatoes with hardly any corned beef. It was inedible. The corned beef I sent back and was replaced with the horrible bacon. All in all for a Breakfast Restaurant named "Toast", you think they would at least be able to make toast, and offer an outstanding breakfast. It was horrible and will not be returning. If you are in the area and want a good breakfast try the Golden Dolphin Diner (just up the road). Im not going to even mention the "fresh squeezed orange juice", but save your $6 bucks for the 4 oz! ( I know, I mentioned it). Read other reviews, Im not alone in my experience at this establishment. |

02/14/2015 10:12 amMy party of 10 had an excellent experience at Toast this morning. We were seated relatively quickly and the menu has ample and interesting choices. There are heart healthy choices even though the Vegan choices are only available Mon-Fri when the "Vegan chef" is working. |
