02/17/2016 9:28 pmIt has been a couple of years since the last time I ate at Tom's Diner in Dormont. I used to eat there regularly, and was always satisfied with my experience. They had good diner food at reasonable prices. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Salad today, and it was hands down the worst salad I have ever had! The chicken was beyond rubbery, the texture and bad taste made it impossible to consume. The fries were under cooked, and the rest of the salad ingredients were just sad. The bed of greens consisted of the worst parts of iceberg lettuce, there were 2 slices of tomato, and 2 slices of cucumber. All of this for $6.95, it was terrible. Sad to see the quality drop so low. |

05/15/2015 3:08 amI went to Tom's Dinner for dinner. My boyfriend and I went for dinner. Everything was going very well both server and food. However, the server went outside to smoked and talked on her phone. Came to our table ask how everything tasted and ask if i wanted more coffee. I told her yes, i would! She went behind the counter got the coffee and went took other order. I was done. I am 32 year old female but if you don't wash your hands that's nasty. She came to our table about to pour coffee and i said i change my mind about the coffee after you did not come back to work without washing your hands. She got attitude and walked away. If she is not washing her hands in public eyes what is Tom's Diner doing that we can't see??? |

02/08/2015 5:12 pmUpon arriving we stood at the door for 3 minutes and nobody acknowledged me or my party. There was a board at the entrance that is supposed to be used for specials, but it was blank. Why can't they take 5 minutes to write "please seat yourselves?" My boyfriend finally asked a bus boy if it was okay to seat ourselves. I asked my server for hot tea. She brought it out and it was warm, and I also had no saucer to rest my spoon or tea bag. Guess they expected me to just put it on the dirty table that the busser just wiped down with a dirty rag. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken tasted like it was probably frozen before. It wasn't hot. It was lukewarm. The waffle was ice cold, which leads me to believe that my food was sitting in the window for a very long time before it was even brought to the table. This place is dirty. Anybody who has rated this place anything above 2 stars is out of their mind and anybody who has said anything good about the food has probably eaten from a dumpster their whole life. After this awful experience, I feel like the dumpster might have been the better option for breakfast than this crap hole. Needless to say, but I'll say it anyways. I won't be back. |

10/19/2014 3:55 amExactly what a Diner is supposed to be: full of delicious food and open all the time. In today's eatery world, "diners" can be open occasionally. Not Tom's Diner. It's light, airy and service is satisfactory (at the least). In addition to great breakfasts, gyro bread makes for the most filling salads around. |
