Neil, the boss, hung up the phone on me when I was very politely complaining about the security (police officer) who shoved me, a young woman, so much so that I have bruises on my arm and accused me of swinging at him when all I did was back into him.

Neil did not want to hear anything and instead accused us of harassment if we dared continue to call the restaurant. Why would anyone patronize a place where you are threatened by a police officer to be taken to jail and physically abused and the boss of the place does not even care and has the same aggressive and abrasive manner as that policeman in his late 40s for manhandling a woman for no fault of hers.

One wouldn't "call" to make a complaint if one did really "get lucky" for not going to jail after "swinging" at a police officer. I would have been in jail had I "swung" at the police officer now wouldn't I?

Great food. Pricey, but worth it.

I have been to Toro several times in the past year, and things started out ok, mainly because I went during Happy Hour with some people from my office. Dinner however was a disaster. The wait staff constantly seemed like they had somewhere better to be. At one point, on a different night the bartender actually started yelling at wait staff from behind the bar. It just seemed very unprofessional and unorganized.

I understand that this is a Tapas restaurant, but the portions are small, even for those standards and way overpriced. If I wanted wheat bread with olive oil, I could make that at home and not pay $10 for it. I also understand that the point of a Tapas restaurant is not large portions or good deals, but to enjoy the atmosphere with friends. I shouldnt have to be concerned with whether or not my server is going to be a jerk or if we will have enough food.

I cant justify going there again.

Toro is absolutely amazing. If you haven't been to a tapas restaurant before, they'll be happy to describe how it works and all the waitstaff is extremely friendly. They have a great martini/wine list but more importantly, we've NEVER ordered a bad plate there! Anything from a goat cheese tart to lobster corn dogs to BBQ pork rolls....delicious! Expect to spend a lot ($20-30 per person plus drinks) but it is absolutely worth it. You will be sharing the food, so make sure to go with people you're comfortable eating off the same plate with. If you'd rather get a traditional, single-person entree they have them available as well.
