Treviso Restaurant, Sarasota, Florida Restaurant Details

I made a reservation on Open Table for 4 on Monday night at 6pm. Entered an empty restaurant and was told at the desk that "we are only serving a lunch menu tonight"- which explained why the restaurant was completely empty. No attempt was made to do anything for us to make this better, not even a sorry. Who made the error -Open Table or Treviso, either way it was a bad way to treat a customer.
We ended up going to D Coratoristorante on Washington St- it was excellent.

We were 4 for dinner and arrived at 5:30 and we opted to sit outside near the pond vs. the air conditioned modernistic but austere dining room. I would give the whole experience 90% for the food, the ambiance and service.
The food was mostly exceptional. My grouper was fresh and grilled to perfection with a careful marrying of favors and the sides of Risotto and squash complemented the fish beautifully. My hubby and guest ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which very tasty but was on the dry side, very likely precooked and kept warm. The Gnocchi was delicious, light and tasty according to the third member.
The 2 desserts we shared were the Mango Torta and the Bread pudding made with Pannetone. Both delicious. i was disappointed that they did not offer Panna Cotta and we must return to try the Tiramisu dish invented in the homeland of my husband, namely Treviso in the Veneto area of Italy (north of Venice).
The wine menu failed to offer a Prosecco, (the regional sparking wine from the Veneto area) but is available upon asking.
The negatives are: the service could be more polished, and the menu on line does not match the menu offered in the restaurant but those are small compared to the overall experience.
if you are planning on attending the Asolo Repertory Theatre,gGive yourself a good 2 hours before the performance to savor the wonderful cooking.

went there for lunch with my rather large family after a visit to the Circus Museum... Not a great spot for large parties, let me tell you. However, can't beat the location, the food is very good, the prices are reasonable all things considered. Will come back with fewer kids in tow.
