One of the best venues in Seattle for live music.

Lovely downtown venue in a sketchy part of town. Great jazz, fine menu, and wonderful staff. Parking is expensive. This nationally recognized venue is a must visit for most musicians.

Great low-key Valentine's dinner! Great jazz, wine, dessert - what's not to love?!

Ambiance: Tula's has a nice ambiance but the dark lighting seemed a bit overkill. Maybe they could invest in a few more lights so people can actually read their menus before the show starts? The music was great and I liked the intimacy of this venue. We were asked at one point to quiet down because we were chatting during the show. We kept our conversation to a minimum after that but noticed lots of other people talking as well.

Food: We were disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options. compared to most restaurants in Seattle. My friend and I ordered a bottle of wine, a hummus platter and two salads(as there were few other vegetarian choices). The hummus platter was pretty simple and what you would expect. However my "salad" was actually just a head of iceberg lettuce cut in half with some dressing and toppings thrown on top, they seriously didn't even bother pulling the head of lettuce apart. Also iceberg lettuce seems an odd choice for a walnut/pear salad, would it kill them to throw in some kale or at the very least use spinach?

Service: Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and attentive.

Management: Their website advertises that if you make a dinner reservation you get $5 off your cover charge. After making a point of making a dinner reservation and arriving before 7pm we were surprised when the waitress brought our bill and explained we would not get the discount because we did not order an entree. We argued the policy was not clearly explained so the waitress asked the manager and they eventually agreed to give us the discount as a "one time thing".

Overall: I would not waste money eating dinner at Tula's again, if I go back for another show I will just have a QUIET drink at the bar.

Fantastic night out here. Call in advance to reserve a table, even on a Monday night they almost didn't have room for us. Great music, good wait staff. Just be prepared and willing to drop a little money on the evening!
