My favorite Mexican restaurant in town! Walk around beautiful downtown. Its family friendly and Marina Jack is minutes away! Order the el Presidente & you wont go home hungry!

Horrible experience !!! Bad service and worst of all, there was a huge RAT roaming around under the tables. We spoke to the management and they basically ignored the situation and never even offered a discount after the girls lost there apatite from seeing the rat. The beans were cold from the refrigerator. The piña colada was melted. Never again I'll go to that place.

Lunch today at this restaurant was very disappointing. Food was not that good and the most expensive margarita tasted like orange juice. I have never returned a drink; however did and in this case was still charged for the higher price drink and delivered a smaller glass and it tasted as if it was whiskey and not tequila. After paying the bill I told the waitress who acted if she could care less that I was not satisfied. Too many good restaurants so will not be returning to this one..

I am not a local but not a tourist either. I know good Mexican food and this place does not have it, nor does it have the level of service to even come close to making up for it. We arrived at 2:30 so the place should have been open for a little while yet the hostess seemed a little out of it but managed to lead us to a very dark corner table in the front bar area. She left us some menus and wandered away. It was nearly 10 minutes before we saw the server as she was delivering an order to the table across from us. She went back to the kitchen and returned quickly with a bowl of chips and salsa and took a drink order. Another few minutes passed and she brought the drinks out and took our food order. So 17 minutes after sitting down we finally got to order lunch.

Now I don't lay too much blame on the server because she was clearly trying to make up for lost time and was busy, but the odd and slightly irritating thing was watching the hostess and some other members of the wait staff just meander the dining rooms doing everything but attend to the customers. This never speaks well of the management so I should not have been too surprised when the food arrived.

The fish tacos were bland and lacked any real flavor. The side dish of beans had a funny flavor that reminded me of stale beer so I didn't eat those. The crispy hard-shelled tacos looked and tasted like the ones served at Taco Bell. The refried beans were forgettable.

On the plus side, the green enchilada was good but the chalupa looked like a regular tostada and lacked any real seasoning or flavor.

Bottom line is that the place looked really nice and authentic, but beyond that the food and service were less than average. No I won't be back, so the next time I am in town I will try the other restaurants that were recommended.

I used to come here twice a year from St Pete because of the delicious food. I recently visited on New Year's Eve after moving to Los Angeles. I was disappointed in the food because the salsa was not what it used to be( maybe wasn't made properly) and the cheese tasted very processed. The tacos were not tasty at all.... lack of preparation and taste.

I don't know if I'll be returning......

The food used to be amazing!
