05/10/2015 7:27 amThe appeal never dims at this Union Square flagship of the Danny Meyer empire that remains excellent in all areas, from the incredible New American fare to the elegant but comfortable, conversation-friendly" room and impeccable" service; getting a reservation is still hard – especially since it announced plans to close and relocate in 2015 – so if you can only get a seat at the bar, go for it. |

04/15/2015 5:49 pmNice ambiance and you'll be able to spot a last minute table if you arrive before 7 pm and sit at the bar seating tables. Friendly attentive service and a great bread basket along with salted butter, olives, and walnut tampenade. Stand outs are the frito misto which had a nice fried up crisp which wasn't soggy and the fried smelts were great. The fried okra was also a standout. Crispy and tender inside without being slimey that okra tends to be. Mains were average and didn't stand out. Also a bit salty. We had the salmon and the pulled pork. Dessert was pleasing as we had the bluedberry oatmeal cookie crust pie and sweet corn icecream. Creative and delish. |

01/27/2015 10:09 pmHad a delightful dinner with excellent and (handsome) server, Uri. My favorites of the night= the beef carpaccio and the Bayreuther Zwick'l Kellerbier. This is the most comfortable dinner I can remember featuring excellent ingredients, masterfully prepared, and professionally served- all the while genuine and high-touch. Many thanks to Sam, the managing partner, for stopping by to say hello and for the entire team who made us feel special- even behind the scenes. |

01/13/2015 7:14 pmIf you like New York because of its fine dining and haven't been to this place yet, you should do it right now. Founded by one of the trend setters in restaurant industry Danny Meyer, Union Square Cafe delivers on all expectations. Let's start with food and drinks as a foundation. Menu changes, but I had a baked beef, sliced and sprinkled with sea salt served on greens. It awakened the senses I didn't know I have. Pure pleasure. Carefully selected wine list, cocktails and other drinks are also changing so there's no way not to find a good pairing. Atmosphere and interior is clean and traditional. No gimmicks here, just restaurant vibe at its best. Staff is very professional, polite and helpful. It's very clear that they are undergoing strict selection process. With all this goodness in one place, it's normal to be a bit pricey. Not over the top however. |
