For special occasions, this high-end Midtown mainstay is still doing Italian cuisine proud with classic dishes and lovely wines ferried at a leisurely pace by a crew that's eager to please; the civilized setting includes two dining areas, a truly romantic wine cellar and an upstairs lounge with a pianist.

I have heard some great things about Valentino's Restorante, so I decided to take my wife there for her birthday. While the food quality and service were on par with the pricing, the atmosphere and overall experience did not meet my expectations.

We had a reservation for 7:00pm on a Saturday evening and arrived thirty minutes early. The host politely greeted us and sat us within minutes of our arrival. To my surprise the dining room was nearly vacant except for one other couple. Although surprised, I took the opportunity to have a private night out with my wife.

We were seated near the window and immediately noticed that there were spider webs and dead insects on the windowsill. The temperature was very warm, to the point I was uncomfortable, and the room was almost silent. We kept our conversation to a near whisper, to avoid being rude to the fellow diners. Some subtle Italian music would have been well received. I would also comment that there is no dress code (at least not when I was there). This is only a concern because I was expecting a romantic dining experience with a more formal environment.

The food was delivered quickly and tasted delicious. Our server provided excellent service for the duration of our stay. There was no room for improvement from the service staff. Great Job!

Overall our dinner was less than $150 (two entrees and a bottle of wine) and the food was fairly priced for its quality. The service was excellent but the atmosphere did not meet my expectations for a special night out.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. The gnocchi was creamy goop. My girlfriend's seafood pasta looked like soup. Both were flavorless.

I am not a picky person, but this meal was a complete disappointment by any standards. And at nearly $100, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had a table for 4 last night, and ordered 2 orders of lamb chops, cioppino, and the salmon, and everyone was raving about the selection they ordered. And the acoustics are perfect to allow people to hear one another speaking at the table too!! No better place to go when you want to share a birthday dinner with someone you want to make feel very special. Thank you Valentino's !

My first time here as it was recommended by several people I was seeing on business here. The place is AMAZING!! Staff attended to every need/detail. Ambiance was quaint yet lively, and the food was to die for. I had a bone in veal chop that was HUGE. I never seen it prepared like that and I forced myself to finish it. Table side Bananas Foster was soooo good. When I thought it couldnt get any better, I found their upstairs, "V" lounge with an adjacent patio and capped the night with an after dinner drink and a cigar. This is a DEFINITE MUST if you are in Nashville!!!!

My wife made reservations for that rare romantic night out when you have children. We arrived early (around 6) and the valet was not available so we ended up parking and having to walk. It was not a very busy night as less than half the seats were filled. Our waiter was not attentive and condescending. He failed to fill a request for more bread and when I asked for a glass of wine, it did not arrive until the meal was half over. The food was not very good...and I say this as an Italian and fairly accomplished cook. The portions were small, my "grilled" chicken was actually steamed and the texture was rubbery. My wife's gnocchi was undercooked and the sauce was bland. We asked to see a manager, but one never materialized so we simply paid our bill and left. I sent a letter, but have not recieved any response. We were treated as if we were lucky to be eating there and should be happy with what we got.
