Venice Cafe, Chicago, Illinois Restaurant Details

Food:

I go to Venice Cafe so much that my coworkers started making fun of me. I love their salad. It's cheaper and better than anything around the area. Always super quick service - great lunch place if you're in the area!

Food:

Venice is a good lunchtime spot if you are looking for something different than the traditional fast food options. They get a fairly large lunch crowd rush so you may have to wait a little bit but they generally move the line along pretty fast.

I've had everything from the Italian Beef sandwich to the pasta dinner to the calzone. With the exception of the calzone, everything is pretty much average taste wise. The pasta dinner looked and tasted like something you could buy at the grocery store and heat in the microwave. Wasn't impressed at all. Italian beef sandwich was average as well. Not disappointing but there are far better options for Italian beef in the area.

Now Venice's calzones are really, really good. It's easily the best thing on the menu in my opinion. The sauce that goes along with it was good as well.

Check their website for specials of the day. It's really inexpensive in general but you may manage to find what you are looking for as the special that day.

Food:

While working at the CME when it was on wacker I used to come to this place a lot. This is some real quality Italian food. I usually would rotate between the chef's special or a calzone. The pasta was always made fresh and to order but they managed to make it real quick as well. Venice is a little pricier than other lunch options nearby which is what kept me from going there every day...... If you haven't been, you are missing out. Keep that punch card, you'll be going back.
