It was a great place for many years and we enjoyed dining there. Unfortunately, development will soon swallow the former Vescios Restaurant. The last day of business was December 20, 2015.

Hostess rude. Made it clear that my Hispanic family was NOT welcome here. A disgrace that a Veteran owned business would dishonor a fellow brother in arms. RLTW

My first visit to Vescio's and the food was some of the best I have had in quite some time. The service was fast and staff was friendly but the food, oh my was I pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Manicotti with both the marinara and spicy white sauce, smothered in mozzarella cheese. This is my go to restaurant when I visit Minneapolis again.

Pretty terrible. I ordered fettucine alfredo with shrimp. How tough could that be? The shrimp were boiled, flavorless blobs of protein. The alfredo sauce was bland as well. The waitress happily accepted my criticism and swapped out for a chicken parm. People say they like to eat local and support small businesses. I completely agree... then again, I've never gotten such a lousy dish of food at Zio's or Olive Garden.

The ambiance is nice, lovely music, but the bathrooms and building itself are in need of maintenance and it shows. We came in a large group with reservations, but were rushed by the waitress upon arrival to place drink orders. After choosing the calamari as an appetizer, we only had a brief wait before the food arrived, but were immediately pressed to place our meal order in the meantime. We chose the fettuccine Alfredo with sausage, since the pasta, sauce, and sausage are all housemade. The calamari came piping hot and fresh, but lacking any garnish or flavor, really. The "aioli" was more of a seasoned sour cream. I do not believe that the sauce actually can qualify as an aioli, but was tasty, nonetheless. We asked for lemon to improve the flavor of the calamari, and after a short wait were brought two slices of fresh lemon, along with our meals.
We were very disappointed with the pasta, sauce, and sausage. The pasta was very thick - at least a quarter inch - and over-cooked (mushy) to boot. The sauce was flavorless, and I believe the cook substituted half-and-half for what should have been heavy cream. There was a bit of overcooked scallion mixed in with the pasta and sauce as garnish, but otherwise no garnish or cheese to help perk up the colorless plate. The sausage tasted just like Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage patties, cut into large, unappetizing chunks. There was no flavor of fennel, basil, oregano, pepper - nothing special at all. Bland is the most appropriate description I can think of. We chose to end our order here, and with an 18% gratuity added to the large group tab, we walked away feeling as though we had just been robbed. Part of our group even abandoned their take-home boxes at the table because they couldn't stomach the leftovers.
We will not return again unless a major overhaul is enacted and the staff is re-trained to properly prepare and serve Italian - or any - cuisine at this establishment.
