"Consistently excellent" Cuban cooking – from awesome breakfast plates to delicious ropa vieja – keep this "full-of-life" Kingfield hangout hopping from morning 'til night; "be prepared to wait for a table in the tiny space, but "colorful walls festooned with graffiti" and a spectacular patio add to an island-dining feel that keeps fans relaxed.

Victor's is classic. Only place to get Cuban breakfast that I know of. Been coming here since the 90s. Anybody giving poor reviews is absolutely delusional. Get the Ranchero Cubano w eggs poached medium and make sure you add rice. Also, Cuban toast w guava paste is amazing!

We had a party of four & each member came away terribly disappointed. We had an appetizer, main dish, desert & drinks for a total of $146. For a shack of a building with one extremely small & dirty bathroom it was overpriced & underwhelming. The Picadillo a La Cubana was like eating ground hamburger with a low quality spaghetti sauce because it was bland & missing any significant flavoring. To make matters worse the four of us ALL GOT SICK ranging from nausea to violent vomiting.

The only thing I would recommend from this place is the cafe con leche. First time i was there, we had a few appetizers and nothing stood out. Just dry bland food. More Americanized than anything. My friend tried the tuna sandwich and couldn't eat it, because of how bad it smelled. It was absolutely disgusting. I decided to give this place another chance because of some of the reviews and went with my family this time. I was disappointed right from the beginning on this occasion. We were waiting for our table (for about 30 min) when my husband decided to ask for an update. We had noticed that a few tables had left and just had to be turned over/wiped down. The waitress told us that they were super busy and had a lot food to run out. I thought it was understandable, until we noticed she went out of her way to find a bowl to fill with water for a dog that had just arrived with a guest (the dog's owner never asked her for it). By this time we had been waiting for 45 min (with a crying, hungry toddler). My husband and I were very offended by this. I understand about being sympathetic towards animals, but what about families with little children?? This is not a family oriented place. I will not be returning here and definitely do not recommend.

This place has a great vibe about it and a very unique ambience. The food of course keeps me coming back for more. Best place in town for some good Cuban food. Try it out and you won't regret it.

First off the waitress refused to seat me and my mother by saying they were full. She proceeded to seat the two men behind us because she "knew" them. They did not have reservations. Suddenly she came back and said someone just canceled a reservation which was not true. When she decided to seat us there were three tables available everyone that came in after us were seated immediately with out reservations. When we realized she was lying we became upset and that set the tone for an awful meal experience. The rice was so mushy and water logged there were no individual grains just a pile of red tasteless mush.it was unpalatable. Both mom and I ordered chicken fricasse. In the past it was our favorite. This time it was red soupy with a jumble of incomparable flavors and random olives. The menu clearly stated it's made with chicken thighs. However ours had chicken flavorless chicken breasts which I hate.Mom had a lot more food than I did. I had a corner of a breast and mom had two huge chunks of breasts on her plate. Intentionally made up that way I'm sure. I barely had a full serving of food while my mother's plate had extra food on it. That seemed intentional as well. (In fact i felt as if our waitress was a predjudiced bigot. Her attitude smelled worse than a Mississippi River sewer pipe) The chicken fricasse also a mass of red goolash. It was awful. The flavor was bland and anticlimatic. The plantains were cut incorrectly in huge undercooked chunks yuck! The salad was the most flavorful item on the plate with mango dressing of some sort. We mentioned the blatant discrepancies between the food this visit and our last visit in the Middle of May. The waitress with no integrity who initially lied and said they were full and their was a table we could get but the couple was still eating. (Total lie, basically translates into a refusal of service.) Explained that they were transitioning. They had a blatantly unskilled (at cooking any food at all )apprentice cooking the food. Now in addition to a waitress who initially refused to serve me and my mother we paid sixty three dollars for the worst food in the entire world. How dare they not inform the patrons that they are using an unskilled apprentice. They allowed an apprentice with no experience in cooking anything to experiment on loyal customers. In one evening Victors 1959 cafe went from being the best little Cuban restaurant in the world (myopinion)who welcomes everyone. To a dumb down Cuban food nightmare on grand street. From the initial blatantly rude and dishonest refusal of service. To the impalatable not fit for a dog pile of mush they overcharged us for. If it ain't broke don't fix it (and please don't hire an unskilled apprentice to cook authentic Cuban cuisine. We did inform the waitress that we were foodies and would review the restaurant. We did mention to our waitress our displeasure with the entire meal except the salad. We still wound up paying too much money for total waste of food in my opinion. They would have done better just throwing the food away. Not even a stray dog will eat that pile of tasteless goolash. Our waitress was Medium height with short blond hair. She is very comfortable with turning money away from the restaurant by denying customers service. If I could have given no stars for the experience and the food I would have. As a Hispanic woman I was very offended by the way this woman behaved towards my mother and myself initially. Victors has officially fallen off. Taco bells' artifical Mexican food would have been a better choice that night. We will never ever eat at that restaurant again. I have been eating there since 1993. Hasta nunca Victors. I do advise the apprentice to quit destroying food and get another vocation. The waitresses need some type of diversity training. We could see on her face that she was a total racist bigot. Dont waste your time or money on this awful little nightmare.
