Fare that's "innovative without losing authenticity" prevails at this "classic" French Downtowner with "superb", "attentive" service (it's reputed that "Vincent himself often comes around" to greet guests); even if tabs are "expensive", there's "good value" at happy hour (the "sophisticated" house burger is "to die for"), and "people-watching" on Nicollet Mall enhances the "elegant", "European atmosphere."

Tasting menu was fantastic. Perfect wine pairings as well with great variety. Fantastic service. Hard to find any faults to it. I felt the portion size was just right as well to allow to try the entire menu.

Best happy hour ever
-$5 glazed duck wings are perfectly seasoned and tender, I would just a bucket full and gnaw on them in my buffet pants if it were socially appropriate

Other than that
-Tuna tartare, I'm fish-racist against all things tuna but my friends really enjoyed it
-The vincent burger was fine, but it takes a lot for a burger to hit me with an amazeball
-Mediteranean flatbread fell really flat with crust too dry/burnt
-Poutine was tasteless, canadians don't order this
-Desserts was spectacular, must get the chocolate pot de creme, creme brulee, and Louis XV with the hazelnut chocolate cake, get all three of them, worth passing out into a sugar coma for

A quintessential French dining experience. You could find this restaurant anywhere along the Champs Elysees and be delighted with the simple elegance and rock solid craftsmanship that make dining in France so fun. They're not reinventing the wheel - because it's already been invented and it works great. They're presenting attractive, delicious food in a welcoming and professional manner. Seriously, it's so great to deal with a welcoming wait staff who are professionals - not cloying, callow, pretentious or clueless - just wonderful pros who know their stuff.

And the food hits the mark perfectly. Whether it's classic escargot or tartare, an exceptionally nice steak or piece of fish...or perhaps a dish that hearkens back to the chef's upbringing (if you're there in winter you might get treated to an amazing cassoulet), everything will be excellent and clearly made with care and skill.

The atmosphere of the dining room is great for a lively dinner with friends or a special romantic rendezvous - huge windows front the Nicollet Mall across from Peavey Plazy and the bar side is just a bit more casual - great for a weekday lunch or happy hour, but with full menu a great option to meet a friend for a bite that's a cut well above average.

Service was very nice. Ambiance was also nice. But the food yuck. Very confident I got food poisoning. The lamb shank was terrible. So for what its worth food was avg at best.
