04/21/2015 10:10 amDark and somewhat cavernous bar with a good selection of Belgian beers. Outside of times you'd expect any place to be crowded, it's pretty chill and good for conversations - particular the handful of seats outside. |

02/12/2015 12:19 pmsmall, dark, and cozy with a nice selection of Belgian beer. the reggae music that was playing all night was certainly my taste, but seemed out of place. staff service could use some improvement and there is no liquor, only beer. |

01/11/2015 6:56 pmBelgian bar is one of the best bars by NYU. I say Belgian bar, because in college I had no idea what its real name was; that's what everyone I've ever spoken to has called it. You go in on there's an outdoor area with seating and a bar that's closed unless they're packed, and then there's a dark, indoors area with more seating and a full bar. All the beer is from Belgium or is Belgiam-style, as you could expect: Hoegaarden, Chimay, Lindeman's, etc. Some of the beers are fairly common in the city now a days, some are more rare. Between the tap and their bottle selection, if you're a beer enthusiast you should be satisfied. Prices are good considering that these beers are much stronger in alcohol content than normal beers--and more satifying. I've their frites a few times which are good for bar food; I wouldn't try anything else. Service is good at the bar, less so if you're at a table outside. This place definitely has that cool "craft" bar vibe to it if that's what you're looking for. I've had some great times here in college just hanging out, and it says something that I continue to come back when I'm in the area. |

09/11/2014 5:31 pmAmazing Belgian beer is hidden in this nondescript bar. Behind a small courtyard, a simple sign is your only guess of the revelry inside. A neighborhood institution, and common IFC theater hangout, get there early so you can enjoy the mussels and frites without the roar of the crowd that grows through the night. Dark, dim and red, Vol de Nuit is sultry and the only place I know to get Duvel Green on tap. |
