10/19/2015 5:23 pmPrices Up, Quality Down, Customer Service Out. Have been going since the 1980's and enjoying it as a classy establishment with great food, but apparently they are now dead set on cashing in on the brand at any cost. Everyone has an ear piece in which maybe explains why it took a couple minutes to take my order despite my being the only one in the room. If I were a better son/ didn't enjoy their 175's so much, I'd have already boycotted them when their Market arm took advantage of my 80 year old father by charging him for the fat which was originally attached when he ordered a 5 pounds of FILET MIGNON for a Christmas dinner - especially offensive because you pay a higher price per pound because the fat is removed, which is what makes it a filet. They threw it right up on the scale for him at the sweet price of $36/pound. To quell his objection to this practice (probably the first objection of this kind he's ever raised), they begrudgingly swapped him 2 pounds of ground beef for the $70 they charged him for 2 pounds of fat. Most recently, I bought 3 sandwiches at the fun new price of $9.99 each and they don't even give pickles anymore? Wish I had known that before I got home empty handed. It's a joke of the deli it once was. If I had my picture up on the wall there, I'd ask for it back. Goodbye Wagshals, hello Jetties and Whole Foods. |

11/30/2009 10:35 pmthese reviews are focusing on the wrong things... "the deli is too small" "the hummus has peanuts in it" the bottom line is that the food is amazing. if you aren't allergic to peanuts do yourself a favor and have a delicious sandwich from wagshawls, one of the best delis in dc. Also the complaint about it being expensive is sort of absurd-- jetties is far more expensive which is really its main competitor. the selection at wagshawls is actually quite good-- so judysbook can shove it... they also have a market with a bunch of great meats-- wagshawls is for people who are willing to pay a dollar or so extra for quality food made with quality ingredients |

11/25/2015 5:45 pmKnown especially for their "excellent" "made-to-order" sandwiches (the "brisket is the bomb"), these "old-time" delis/markets have a "loyal" fan base for their "best-of-everything" lineup including "amazing-quality" meats and seafood, "wonderful baked goods" and "almost-like-home-cooking" prepared foods; "moderate prices" and "knowledgeable" service seal the deal. |
