09/18/2014 4:13 pmIt's now been 1 month since I stayed at the Waikiki Grand Hotel and my disgust has yet to subside. My Fiance and I cut our 7 day stay here short after 2 nights because of the large cockroach that was sleeping in our bed and the poor service that we received when we alerted the hotel staff. I'm talking about the rather rotund guy working the front desk. Not only did they handle the cockroach situation abysmally, "What do you expect lady, it's a tropical island? That's why we're also fumigating the rooms.", that's right, while we were staying there, they put up notices on all the rooms letting the guests know that they would be going in and fumigating; but the management also failed to contact us to apologize or speak with us about the large cockroach. The fact that management wasn't at all concerned about guests leaving because of roaches, should be a telling sign at the frequency with which this must happen. I waited to write this scathing review to see if maybe someone would contact me but no one obviously cares. |

08/06/2014 11:39 pmWe booked this hotel 2.5 months before our stay. We are very comfortable with hostels/camping, so we weren't worried about anything. I called to see if they offered surfboard storage and they said yes, so we brought our boards. When we arrived, their garage was full, so they suggested we park at a hotel about 10 blocks away. They also said they didn't have board storage, but after saying that I had called, they allowed us to put in a storage room. Check-in was smooth, the lobby and common areas were nice. We were told that our room had been renovated the day before. When we got to the tiny room, we appreciated the nice new laminate floors, and paint. However, the tube television and wicker furniture was dated. The (full-sized) bed was low-quality, but ok, however the (only) 2 pillows were the worst things I have ever seen. About 2" thick, and not supportive even if you folded them in half. We decided to go to the pool, but when we got there, they were out of towels, so we couldn't do that. We asked if we could get some extra pillows, and they said they were out. So, we went out for the evening and returned to possibly the least comfortable night of sleep we've had. The A/C was about a foot from my head and fairly noisy. The pillows were awful. We used an old camping trip and rolled up clothing for pillows. Neither of us slept for more than 30 minutes. We definitely won't be staying here again, and will pay the extra $50 for the park shore. |

11/30/2013 10:07 pmI highly suggest you do NOT book room 322! The guy that owns that room is a deceitful jerk! If you would like to be robbed then this is the room for you, if not then stay away. Don't make my mistake! |

06/08/2013 1:15 amMy wife and I came here for our honeymoon. I was very satisfied with the room for the price we paid. We got a free upgradd to the king bed. The room was small but it came with a lot of nice appliances. The only drag was that there was only a shower, so no bathtub. Also, no telephone in the room. The way i see it is that we didnt come to hawaii for to spend a lot of time in a hotel room, so as long as the bed is comfy im good (the bed and pillows were very comfy). As for location, I couldn't ask for a better spot. Its righ next door to a little market, starbucks and loads of restaurants and less than a block from waikiki beach and the honolulu zoo. Very satisfied. Parking is also $17 a day, not $30 as stated by another reviewer. |

05/16/2013 2:31 pmThis is a great place if you"re wanting to be central to all activities that Hula's has to offer. Get a room with a view and ask for one that has been upgraded :-) Enjoy |
