It's "not just for dog lovers" – "picky eaters", "discerning palates" and a "variety of people and age groups" all love the quirkiness of this canine-themed University City stalwart" and its younger Wayne and Haverford offshoots, whose interesting without being odd Eclectic dishes, all made with ingredients "obtained from nearby organic farms", "do not disappoint" "no matter your taste"; you might "need a PhD to read the menu", but the "helpful" staff is "quick" to translate, while the "amazing" surrounds, "part grandma's house, part English pub", are "truly original."

I eat at White Dog Cafe each and every time I am in town. I typically order an omelette for lunch and a burger for dinner. The ingredients are local, when possible, and the food is fresh. I highly recommend it!

Take your mom here for mother's day, she would love it! The brunch was great but the best part was the drinks were very cheap!

I'd heard great things about this place which is why I wanted to try it with a friend, but warning: if you go here on a busy day (Penn or Drexel Family weekends, for example), definitely call in beforehand. We did not and our experience was absolutely horrendous for what were frankly stupid reasons.

We entered the restaurant at around 4:00 pm, had our name taken down, and were told that we'd be seated within 30 minutes.

This turned out to be a complete lie as two hours later, we still were not seated. What ended up happening was that people with reservations who came in were given priority before us. Now, we didn't have a problem that (they had reservations), but what we did find infuriating was the fact that every time we went up to check when we could expect to be seated, the man at the front would tell us 20 minutes (4x over...). Next time, just tell us you don't have room instead of wasting our time. Not to mention the fact that the same man sneered at us when we asked why our 20-30 minute eta had turned into two hours.

They may or may not have great food, but no amount of culinary skill is worth being lied to for two hours straight.

I made a reservation for brunch using opentable. There was a pretty significant wait despite having a reservation. The place feels small but that is quite likely because it is so crowded. I loved the hummus platter we ordered, but the lamb burger was very underwhelming. I may have gone in with high expectations, but the experience was quite thoroughly disappointing for both me and my partner. Neither one of us wanted to finish our main course, and we did not care to take it out either. Combine that with the price, and it was a pretty bad experience.

Why did I give it three stars? The hummus and the feeling that the place has potential to win me over in the future. It may just have been an off day.
