"Old-school" is an understatement when it comes to this 1938-vintage Chinatown double-decker known for "tried-and-true" Cantonese cooking at "rock-bottom", cash-only rates; despite "abrupt" service and "dingy" digs decorated with a "zillion photos", "long lines" are the norm – especially "late-night."

Well worth the wait for a seat in this basement establishment. It has an "A" from the Health department and it's been a favorite of real New Yorkers for more than 50 years.
I love to bring new people there to try anything on the menu, but of course there are standouts. The soft shell crabs are devine! Don't order too much unless you plan to take some home.
WARNING! Do not eat at the Wop Hop upstairs. It's not nearly the same quality - but I'm glad it's there to keep the tourists from crowding the treasure down below!

Solid Chinese food at any time of night.

Don't ask why I ordered them, but the spare ribs were too tough and the wings were a bit dry. Fried rice is very suitable when intoxicated. Service was good - the cashier was straight-up and very nice.

This place specializes in American Chinese food. It's probably good if that's your thing. The vegetarian selection is pretty lacking, but they did make a curry noodle dish that otherwise has meat vegetarian for me, which was pretty cool. It's very cheap.

My wife liked a shrimp and noodle dish she ordered.
