08/06/2012 5:41 pmThere isn't much for Chinese food in Oakleaf, and this one is about as good as any other you've walked into on a random day. But it is just a little cheaper than Panda Express across the street, and no where near the wait time either. It's not horrible by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not great either. Coming home from a bad day at work, knowing there is nothing in the kitchen, this place at least gets it done. Yellow rice tossed in a wok is your 'fried rice'. Most dishes we have to ask for a little extra spicy as they come out kinda bland. Egg rolls are pretty good. The fortune cookies are always stale, we just throw them out now. They will try to charge you extra for sweet and sour sauce so keep that in mind, it doesn't come with the rangoons apparently (which are passable). The family has a pretty good work ethic, even though you can tell that a struggling business is wearing on them. I believe the owner of this location also owns the one on Wells where the Food Lion used to be. |

07/05/2012 8:11 pmDespite the other positive reviews, the food was really bad here. The other Fast Chinese place we normally go to up the street was closed July 4th, so we decided to use this place. All of the food had a really weird flavor to it, which basically made it inedible. We usually have leftovers for 3 days from the other place with the same order, but none of us could even finish the one serving. The rest went into the trash. Even the fortune cookies were stale as cardboard. A waste of $35... and to the other users review of it being the best honey garlic chicken, ours was truly horrible. Stale breading and soggy like it had been sitting @ the chinese buffet place on blanding/youngerman all day. Not fresh at all. The place up the street by W D has WAY better honey chicken.. they should definitely try it. Still looking for a good, reliable chinese place near OakLe@f... *sigh* |
