Wyvern Hotel, Punta Gorda, Florida Restaurant Details

Loved the hotel. Lovely rooms and great staff. I also loved the Rooftop bar - it was a lovely July evening and I really enjoyed my food and the service. I would be happy to visit again and stay in this hotel.

Seemed like a very nice hotel, until we returned on Saturday night around 9:30PM, and there was NO parking. We ended up parking across the street!...not a problem until the next morning when we found nasty notes and a parking citation on our car! I expect more from a 4 star hotel...at least offer your guests parking! We checked in on Saturday, and no one warned us about parking issues, nor how to handle them! We stayed at the hotel Sat., Sun., Mon., & Tues. The beautiful rooftop bar was advertised to stay open until 10PM on these nights (11PM on Sat.), but when we attempted to visit the rooftop on Sun., Mon., & Tues. it was closed! I know the hotel uses the excuse of bad weather, but there was NOT bad weather on Sunday between 9-10PM, and the storm cleared early on Monday as well. There was a LOT of lightening on Saturday evening, but the rooftop stayed open until 11PM, even WITH lightening in the area! When we called the front desk on Sunday to inquire about the rooftop being closed the front desk personnel laughed at me & said "I don't make those decisions." To top it all off the hotel charged my credit card wrong, and I spent the beginning of this week dealing with credit card issues. Not your typical 4 star hotel, that's for sure!

RE: Ortigoza/Anderson Wedding Ceremony

Dear Mr. Chris Heaxt,

I am writing on behalf of the entire Ortigoza/Anderson for making our wedding ceremony the event of a lifetime. The exceptional service and accommodation that we received is beyond any kind words. Every attendee is still talking about it weeks later.

The tables, chairs, the assistance in set up/cleaning and the view was spectacular. The room that were set up for us were perfect, and we were all very impressed with the friendliness of everyone involved. Your staff treated us like royalty the entire time and their service was absolutely impeccable. This letter wouldn’t be complete without the honorable mention of Jenn, your F&B director, which went above and beyond her job title to ensure this event was a huge success. She was sure to quick to respond to every need that we had and even when we were left by all our guest to continue with pictures on the roof, she offered to clean up and store all our decorations for the following day!

We cannot thank you enough for helping us arrange this entire event. I could not have found a more perfect setting anywhere. We were all pleasantly surprised at the lovely venue that you were able to supply us with.

It would be nice to be able to rate this place, except they never stay open long enough for us to do any business with them!

This is the SECOND trip this year that we attempted to visit the rooftop lounge for a drink & they closed ridiculously early (9:30PM - WHEN THEIR POSTED HOURS STATE THE LOUNGE IS OPEN UNTIL 10:00PM) for a fabricated lame excuse "too cold".....in FL.....in DECEMBER.....it was 63 degrees!!! Seriously!? Who is running this circus?
Same story as when we visited in September & they closed early every single night except Friday & Saturday. The excuses....thunderstorms, which could be believable, except for the day that the storm had passed several hours prior to our visit! I think the best was the night they asked us to order 2 drinks at once, and let the 2nd drink just get watered down in front of us, because they were closing early!
Last time we were lured to stay at the hotel because we wanted to take advantage of the rooftop bar. However, it doesn't make any difference if you are a hotel patron or not, you aren't getting served when they start breaking stuff down at 8:45PM, even though their hours are posted in the room (open until 10:00PM SUN-TH).
Don't bother discussing any issues with management, they will only make more excuses.
Thankfully we found a really nice hotel right across the street that offers unsurpassed customer service, and has a really fun convenient bar on property, outside, that stays open very late, even when it's 63 degrees outside!
Sad, this could be a great lounge if management would step in and keep the business open long enough to get some customers in the door at night.
Next stop: BBB for false advertisement.

Booked the 'Bargain rate' or whatever the hotels calls it and couldn't have been happier with the room, hotel, bar/restaurant and the heated rooftop pool.

We were in town only for the night and for a local even (Hamster Wheel 200 Challenge) put on by the local bicycle club: Peace River Riders.

Our nine year old was the only one who swam and he wasn't the least bit cold despite a cooler January day and a light breeze. We were only slightly dissappointed that the rooftop bar was closed on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, but we supposed that The Wyvern knows there clientele better than we do and we trust it was a wise choice grounded in experience. Downstairs in the other bar, traffic was steady and everything they brought out looked good enough that we decided to stay for dinner instead of walking to one of several appetizing eateries nearby. Food was good but not great but we'd eat and drink there again as well as stay there.
