There is nothing "Healthy" about refusing to make our rolls with Brown Rice when you serve brown rice as a side dish. Terrible service. Not only did they screw-up our order which-- mistakes happen, but the true disappointment was a refusal to FIX our order Outright when their mistake was identified. Even thought they were capable of fixing it. Really awful.

I've been coming here ever since I moved to Tucson more than 10 years ago and it never once has dissapointed. It has two sides, one a fun, quirky slice of Japanese culture with action figures on the walls, anime playing on the tv, and really good authentic Japanese food. The other side is a more upscale and refined sushi restaurant serving a huge variety of fish, rolls, delicious, more polished food. It is THE place to eat eat if you visit Tucson, it shows the town quirky yet foodie side. Don't miss the opportunity to try it out.

When I saw the sign I first thought "healthy, okay great, it's going to be all sprigs of parsley and small portions." I was misled. Yoshimatsu may well be a "healthy" eatery but you wouldn't know it! My sushi (sesame crusted shrimp tempura and snow crab nigiri) was bursting with authentic, natural flavor. It felt very clean, not at all oily or processed. Every piece was an experience. The miso soup and edamame they give you by default are pretty straightforward, nothing to write home about, and the service is friendly and quick. Nice selection of sake, too. At the sushi bar the cooks are working right in front of you. Excellent food, highly recommended.

Before going to dinner at Yoshimatsu, I had heard great things and was very excited to try it. However, my experience at Yoshimatsu was horrible. I came in with a party of 6 and we wrote down our orders on a piece of paper, separating them by our initials so the waiter would have an easier job separating our checks. The waiter told us that we were so nice for doing that, and his job would be much easier. While eating, we only got our waters filled once, which was after we were already done eating. When it was time to pay, he asked us if we could all split the check evenly on our cards. With a party of 6, and totals ranging from $6-$12, it would not be fair to split the check evenly. The waiter then went on to complain to us telling us that it would take him 20 minutes to do the checks separately. We were very confused because he seemed perfectly okay with it when we first gave him the separated orders. The waiter never came back to our table, and in return sent the manager over. She told us how they only split the checks between 2 people at the most. Already frustrated at this point, we told the manager that our waiter never gave us that information. One person in my party paid with cash, and the rest paid with card. When the manager came back over to give us our bills, she had told us that she couldn't add gratuity to the cards, but she took out the tip from the cash bill. We found out that they took a $4 tip from a $14 order, keeping in mind that a 20% tip would have been $2.80. We were finally able to leave, but my frustration didn't stop there. Before we left, my friend said to keep our receipts incase they overcharged us. A few days later I realized I was overcharged by the restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and if you go, please write down your total and keep your receipt. They WILL add to your total.
